Good Lord, NO. The Israelis will shell and slaughter them, like they did the those Irish UN observers in Lebanon last summer, in spite of their communications that Israeli troops were assaulting them.
Aside from that, it probably isn't a bad idea; however, Israel has many times rejected the UN's offer of peacekeeping forces in the occupied territories. The reason is obvious; Israel doesn't want the rest of the world to observe the truth.

Only if they would actually control the West Bank and Gaza then it would be a good idea.
In order for that to happen UN forces would not only have to replace the IDF but also the PA and any terrorist organization as the only armed military force.
Otherwise what good would it do if the IDF leaves the West Bank and organizations like Islamic Jihad use them as a shield to attack with impunity.
The only way it could work is if the UN actively works to disarm all parities in the region leaving it as the only military organization.
The UN and the EU are so far unwilling to do this, thus it will not happen.

The UN has not been shown to be particularly effective anywhere. They are a corrupt organization, while simultaneously being ideological to a fault. Simply put, that cannot deal with the real world.
Sending foreign troops there would be a death trap. Israeli troops are trained for months how to deal with urban terror and the environment we live in; any foreign troops will have no training and will either be picked apart by terrorist groups are stand impotently on the sidelines as those groups rebuild their terrorist networks and infrastructure. The Palestinian people have to stand on their own two feet if we hope to achieve anything in this region.

It's a good idea. It would remove the Israeli occupation (and hopefully the settlements!) and it should serve to end an irritant that has been the source of a lot of trouble.

The UN is an inept, incompetent, and corrupt organization that has its hands in the pockets of the oil sheiks and the eastern Asian countries. UN: Unwanted Nobodies!

EXCELLENT IDEA !!!! Then, when Hamas and Fatah start slaughtering the U.N. and Multilateral forces, like they did with the U.S. diplomats, the world will have a better idea of what Israel's been up against.
And for every U.N. or Multilateral troop killed by Mohammedan terrorists, more and more countries will swing their support toward Israel . . . !
Changed, you've finally come up with a good idea!
Mazal tov! :-)
