Jaguar used to be thought of as a luxury car although they were known for being in the shop a lot. I will admit, Jaguar was not the first car I thought of when someone talked about a luxury automobile, but I was well aware of the brand.

While American automobiles have greatly improved, the brands associated with them still leave some people skeptical. For example if you were to look at two cars lets say the Chrysler Pacifica and the Nissan Murano. Both cars are similar in size and price point. Now take it a step further and lets say you want to lease the car. Most likely you will pay more for the Chrysler although it has a slightly lower price point. Reason being it is an American car and American cars do not last as long, therefore there is a lower salvage value. In three years when you return that Chrysler, the dealer will not get a great deal of money as they would for a three year old Nissan.

By getting involed with American cars, Jaguar truly cheapened its image. I can understand American automakers wanted to bring some luxury into the US auto maker market, but from a foreign car companies standpoint why ruin the brand you have built.

well i used to work for ford (sales) and from all the higher ups i have ever talked to, they all say Jag would have been done and over with if ford had not come in and helped. Remeber Jag was fileing bankrupcy prior to ford comming in and cleaning the house up. Ford got over zelous in doing this with Aston, lincon, and mercury- only real surviving companys now are land rover and volvo

Yes. But people can also say that Jaguar destroyed itself by
the aesthetic stance of it as an automobile manufacturer.
