I mean as a non-christian does it make you wonder if this is all life is. As a christian to me death is to be with the Lord. Funerals are a celebration to me if the person was a christian

Um, you do know that there are other religions outside of Christianity that believe in life after death, right? Christianity doesn't have the market cornered on that one.

I believe that life is a precious gift from G-d, given for us to enjoy but not over indulge in.

Funerals are always sad occasions because we are seperated from the one we love. We no longer have them in the physical to hold, to touch, to talk to, to kiss. We longer have their warmth and no longer see them smile. Funerals are hard and uncomfortable for those who have lost one they truly love.

But for those of use that believe that there is something outside of life - we feel that this person has passed onto a better existence. For me, I know that they are with G-d and no longer feel pain or sorrow as we feel here on earth.

I do not see funerals as a startling look at morality, but instead a reminder that we are never permenantly seperated from those we love and that we will be together again.

I'm not a Christian, but I believe there's an afterlife where I live with my friends and family, mai tais, white sand beaches, and we want for nothing. Very hedonistic, I know, but it has to be better than life on earth. I'm convinced that there has to be something more than this. I'm going to be disappointed if I'm wrong.

I think that whatever you think happens after death is a personal choice. I still don't like funerals, though.

I'm a non-Christian and I only feel sad at funerals; not uncomfortable. Why should I feel uncomfortable......oh, wait....unless you are implying that anyone who is not Christian would be uncomfortable....I mean like Jews, Muslims, etc.....Well, I don't know...I've never been to a Christian funeral. I've been to many Jewish funerals and like I said, they just make me sad, not uncomfortable.

lol, WHO CARES?

For petes sake, I am so sick of society worrying about atheists feelings and muslims feeling ignored or disregarded. What are you supposed to do, offer a Hindu version of the funeral too?

2pm: Christian burial
205: Jewish Celebration of Life, followed by Matza ball soup in the Rotunda
210: Atheists version
215: For those that praise Allah
230: Left handed mass
235: Ambidextrious mass
255: Alcoholics mass and N/A wine will be served
330: Sober taxi arrives

THIS IS AMERICA, WORSHIP WHO YOU WANT BUT IF YOU ATTEND A CHRISTIAN SERVICE, DEAL WITH IT

Very few are in a happy mood at a funeral, no matter what the religious belief. Well maybe some of the heirs.

Not at all for me. Even sitting in a church doesnt make me feel wierd. If that helps some grieve its fine by me. I sat with my family in church after the most recent death in the family...not only did I not feel wierd but they didnt seem to mind me not standing...kneeling...reciting..nor going up for communuion. After all you're threre to pay last respect for the deceased.....and thats what I did.

I am an atheist, and I do not feel uncomfortable at funerals. I only feel uncomfortable when someone is preaching their god to me.

I don't like them because they're sad. I'd only feel uncomfortable if the person who is dead was a seedy person and his killers were coming to make sure he is dead. Other than that, nope.

Should I be?

Funerals the way they are seem very morbid to me.

I don't feel uncomfortable at all. I know it is not the end... only the end for the body.
