To excell in anything takes patience and hard work. While I thoroughly enjoyed the learning days of my guitar playing it wasn't exactly easy, but challenging to me.

The more I learned, the more there was to learn and it never ends. You'll have to find that plateau that is comfortable for you. Once you get past the hurting fingertips where they have grown into calluses the whole music field of guitar playing is opened for you.

Above all, practice slow, maintain control, learn as many chords as you can and apply them correctly. Have patience with yourself. Few are guitar geniuses except for the late, great Chet Atkins.

If you've been playing drums for the past five years you have some idea what music is about. Playing guitar is probably harder then playing drums, maybe not I don't know I've never played them. Playing any instrument is not easy it takes time and patience, and above all talent. Most people think that guitar is an easy instrument to play, well maybe if you just want to play chords it's not too bad, but your hands and fingers are going to hurt for a while, you have to get callouses and .train your hands and fingers. I'd say most can learn to play in about three years, that includes reading music, using your left and right hands correctly. Try some of these sites and see what you think.

Of course it's possible to learn. If it wasn't, noone could play guitar. It's not a theremin, it doesn't take some insane skill to play... I have a guitar, and a piano, even a harmonica. My friend had a drumset. I can play all four instruments without too much of a problem. I find guitar easier than piano at times, but piano is still easy as well... Drums are _much_ more complicated than guitar, trust me. Guitar doesn't take full-blown coordination of every limbs. If you can stretch out your fingers and memorize frets, you can play guitar. It just takes practice. I've been playing for 2 years and would be considered amateur. But that's without devotion toward it. My uncle has played for 12 years almost now, and could possibly be considered a professional. It just takes time to work on it, once you get used to it, it's not that hard... Just look up tabs to learn songs, and look up chords to practice them. Playing guitar is easy, the hard part is writing your own songs.

Well hate to lose you man i know you get tired of being in the back ground but with out the drummer a band has nothing.
For a drummer guitar is easy for a drummer all the instruments are easy simple cause why? you got all the rythmn and the strength put the strength to your fingers instead of your wrist.

learning to play the guitar is pretty easy but there are some strings attached. Now don't fret over that because the key to it is to strike the right cord and pick the best songs. if you do that, along with enough practice, you won't get discouraged and take up the harp...now those are some serious strings.. good luck

it depends on what you want to do. if you want to strum songs and sing, then yes it is very easy to learn. if you want to play interesting rhythms and cool riffs in a band, then it is a bit harder. finally if you want to be a lead guitar player, then be prepared to spend way too much time learning a bunch of stuff that no one wants to hear anyway.
