I got my belly button pierced right before Christmas, so 7 months ago. In the last few months it has gotten constantly infected, it's very painful, and I am unhappy with trying rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide as many people have suggested. Any other ideas?

Take it out now. Why is it getting infected so much? How often do you clean it or did you clean it after it was pierced??

I would say let it close up and try again in a few months. If it doesnt work then your body is just going to keep rejecting it.

A person should never use hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol to cleanse a body piercing. Using products like these strip the skin of healthy cells and hinder the healing process. A navel piercing usually takes6- 12 months to heal entirely. Antibaterial soap, H2Ocean spray and sea- salt soaks are all very effective products for your piercing. If H2Ocean or sea salt soaks are unavalible, use warm water & antibaterialsoap 2-3 times a day. Never use neosporin!

Clear or white puss is fine, especially as you've only had it done a week. If the puss turns yellow or greeny, then you have a problem. An infection would also be painful and red. Just keep cleaning your piercing using sea salt water/saline solution twice a day. Good Luck

Alcohol and peroxide are the worst things that you could use.
You need "green soap" you can buy it at any drug store or probably even a grocery store.Use it twice a day and it shouldn't take long to start feeling better. Also make sure you have a quality metal ring.surgical steel is of course the best But make sure its not nickel many people have an allergy to nickel.
good luck!

You could use salt water soaks. Get a shot glass fill it with water and a pinch of salt would be plenty. Kind of "suction" the shotglass to your bellybutton and leave on for about ten minutes. Do this 2-3 times a day and it should heal up. No need to rinse it off after you do the soak.

Maybe you ought to try to use a triple antibiotic ointment. Maybe put it on once or twice a day. If it doesn't improve in the next few days, you may want to consider seeing a doctor to get a prescription of antibiotics. If there is a severe infection, you will definitely need some sort of antibiotic so that it doesn't get worse!!!

try neosporin. it has a slight numbing agent in it and it usually doesn't sting. Also maybe it keeps getting sore b/c the alcohol and peroxide are too drying.

Well I heard of a kid that stuck his head through a toilet seat once.
Several people had to hold him so that he wouldn't pass out and possibly drown before the fire dept arrived.
There was a story on the internet I read where some guy strapped some type of rocket on his car and died as a result.
Sometimes when people do stupid **** it doesn't always turn out like they thought.
