Take on line college courses. Learn some new card games. Read those books you never had time for before. You learn something and time will go by faster.

If you plan to stay in the Military you should be earning promotion points by doing correspondance courses and talking to superiors in the next rank that you are trying to get promoted to. Find out what they do and ask what you can do to be considered for promotion. Hit the gym and get in shape. While I was in Iraq I found that working out was not just good for my physical health but it also cleared my head and gave me time to think about a lot of things.
Also, keep a journal, I kept an online journal (blog) and now that it's been over a year since I have been in Iraq I can go back and read that blog and have a better apreciation for being back in the USA.

When I was in the military I took correspondence courses in things that interested me. They were offered by the United States Armed Forces Institute and were offered through the University of Wisconsin. I am not sure if that is still available but I bet something similar is. Ask your company commander about it. Keep an eye on the future and what you might want to do. Good luck.

I also am a female service member and in my early days went through this time. First, figure out what is important to YOU, not anyone else just you. Religion, education, health, mental stability, financial stability, maybe even getting to know yourself better. Make a list. Number it in the order of importance. Focus on one thing at a time until you are satisfied with your growth. Cross it off and move on to the next item on your list. It's ok if your priorities change during this time because your the only one you have to answer to. Also reflect about past experiences you have had and tae a really good un biased look at them from all sides and LEARN something from each one. This in itself will make you more tolerant, and patient in life, and will prepare you for what's next in your life. God bless and good luck.

I just want say thank your for fighting for me, as a fellow soldier you are my hero. And I would take online classes just to keep you busy and it keeps you smart. You can also go to the gym and better your fitness goals. I wish I took online classes when I got deployed, Getting my degree would be alot easier.

Find a "safe" place to be by yourself. Go there, think, and write down: what do you enjoy in the arenas of 1.Employment, 2, Intertainment, 3.Interpersonal relationships, Hobbies,4. SO ON AND SO FORTH. WRITE THEM DOWN, AND CARRY THE LIST WITH YOU. THE BRAIN IS A MAGNIFICENT THING, AND IT WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH ADDITIONAL IDEAS, and SOMETIMES AT UNEXPECTED TIMES, and PLACES !!!
GOOOOOOOOD LUUUUUUUUCK, and MAY THE BIG BOSS, ABOVE, SMILE UPON YOU, THOSE ABOUT YOU, and ALL OF YOUR FAMILIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read. A lot. Its relaxing and educational. I know it seems boring at times but start with stuff you are interested in then work your way up to the classics.

Concentrate or focus on what you do so that you will improve in your performance. If you want to be involved in some other things, read a lot about it.
