I am a muslimah, and I am also well aware of things that happen in the world. But how can one attribute them to one religion? Terrorism was around long long before Islam was, so how can the ignorant say that Islam is the cause of it all? Last time I checked my Quran and one of the five Bibles I own, both said Pharoah thought he was a god. He terrorised the Israelites.

Here is one question. Why is this ignored? How do you get "kill those who don't believe" from "leave them alone"?

"Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to God's will) in Islam. Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). (The Noble Quran, 15:2-3)"

My wise young one you are very right. Sometimes it is hiden behind religion but it is people. I believe that if we go through most of the religious wars we have gone through were looked at closely, money and politics would have been more likely the cause than theology. May G-d bless you and your family. Hey Justin the form of communism they practiced was atheistic. Read the literature or the Communist manufesto.

I have always thought much the same thing. Beliefs don't kill, people do. Although atheism is not a religion some religious folk on this page attribute the atrocities of Stalin and Chairman Mao to atheism. (Confusing it with communism).

Mind you, if the religion's texts advocate killing people it certainly doesn't help. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Koran say somewhere "Kill the unbeliever where ever you find him?"

Well if you truly read the Quran instead of quoting a verse of which you clearly made a misconception just like many others you would realize that this verse you mentioned was in reference to the pagan tribes that were persecuting muslims,so truly that was self-defense order,or would you let you and your family be murdered if you were in there place?

If there were no religions, people would STILL be killing each other....the sad truth.

Much killing has been done in the name of God, but that isn't God killing people.

God never said "kill those who don't believe". Unfortunately, they make the choice of eternal damnation themselves if they do not accept His salvation...and He grieves for each life lost, on earth, and eternally.

A religion can kill because it gives the person in that religion justification for killing. Bombing abortion clinics because it's bad and since the doctors are already evil it doesn't matter that they die. That is what religion does to people.
