I dont know many places that will tattoo if your not 18 years old. Most artists wont do it just b/c its so young, and it has nothing to do with laws and such, has to do more with morals.

I got my first tattoo when i was 18 and i regreted it and i had to do a cover up on it. It can depend where you put the tattoo and what it is. If its something small and hidden somewhere not so out in the open then that might be fine.

A friend once told me if you want a tattoo then wait a year. If after the year you still wants that tattoo then its something you should get. lol It may sound dumb but, its a good way to keep yourself from doing something you will regret.

If you want it so badly, then whats waiting a year in order to have it for a lifetime right? I think 16 is too young but everyone is doing everything younger and younger these days..so i dont know.

Maturity wise I would say yes. Your taste changes drastically and as you know tattoos are permanent unless you go through the even more painful and expensive laser removal. Wait until 18 19 20 to get one so that you know yourself better. I'm 18 now and that's not very old but what I wanted at 16 I would be so regretful for now. Two years makes a world of difference. Plus you are more likely to be done or nearly done growing at 18 and older so depending on the location it's a benefit to wait. At 16 you aren't thinking about what jobs will I want, am I going to grow more, will I still love this five years later or want the ... pink flower covered up? A lot goes into it. Think longer even if it is legal. I have nothing against them, I have one and am getting more but I'm saying wait for maturities sake. Hope I helped some what, that's what I've seen from myself and friends that actually got them at 16 and are having them covered up with something else now.

-Most states have a law stating you MUST be 18 to get a tattoo no matter what. Any shop that will break a law like that should not be gone to or be in business.

No I Got My First Tattoo On My 16th Birthday .. You Just Have To Think Will I Like This Design When I'm Like 60 . And You Don't Have To Be 18 @ Most Shops You Just Need To Have A Legal Guardian

it depends. If the location is fine because if its in a spot like hip or something like that then its not good because you are still growing and it wont look the same in 5 years let alone 50.

And what it is you want? Does it have meaning, how long have you been thinking about getting this tattoo? how much does it mean to you, will it mean the same to you in 30 years?

yeah. Personall, i think tattoos r disgusting! i once saw this old man walking down the street. He was covered in tattoos, but was all wrinkly & stuff, it was gross. Just think about it, when u have a job, how professional will that make u look? When u r old, how gross will that b. I don't even approach ppl with tatoos, so think about the oppertunities that go away with it. There is one exception though. If it is small, stands for something important, and is on a body part that is not always out in the oopen then i say okay. get it whenever, as lng as ur parents say its ok.

In my opinion, I think it's great that you want one. In Montana you can get a tattoo at 15. I personally think tattoos are a great way to ecpress youself, as long as it's not a boy/girlfriends name. That's the worst mistake you could make. If that's what your planning on getting, PLEASE rethink that. And dont' get it. i'm all for 16 year old tattooing!!!! :)

ok all these comments saying yes are kinda crazy. Tattoos are a great way to show people about you and your not to young if your talking a little one. Not like a huge one. If you know what you want and your sure of it then go for it! you can get one if you have parents permission. but i would say to get it done!
