Mine hates getting a bath and afterwards will do the whole making a mess, running, barking crazy thing as well. I'm convinced he's getting back at me for giving him a bath. LOL!
That's just my theory.

I own 4 Miniature Pinschers. 2 adults and 2 puppies. The adult minpins do the same thing. They slide across our linoleum bath room floor into the carpet when they leave the bath room. It is so funny because as they are walking/running/sliding they some times slide onto their sides, but that doesn't stop them. It makes me laugh too. My 2 puppies have had one bath and they just groom and lick each other. I guess it varies from one dog to another. The puppies may do that when they get older though. My adult male I got when he was 11 weeks old and now 2. He didn't do that when he was a puppy.
My adult male also loves the hair dryer. He think he knows that it helps dry him faster after a bath. In the winter, we sometimes pull out the hair dryer for warmth. Especially after they come in from being out in the cold. He will sit right in front of you, til you invite him to share the hair dryer.
I honestly don't know why dogs get crazy after a bath. I think it may be that they feel better after a bath and just want to get all the excess water off.

I don't know why either. I always thought because they felt so good. Their fur is clean and their skin is cool. But then when bathtime rolls around again they remember the water part and not the fun part and don't want to get in. So I am just as baffled. Two of my dogs like getting in the water (ie lakes, streams) when there is no soap involved so maybe IT IS the tub confinement and being free that makes them nuts.... ????

Think about it... During the bath and while drying they get a stimulation overload, straight to the skin! So the mere action of bathing them pumps them right up.
It cracks me up when I try my best to avoid mine from splashing all those droplets on me when I turn off the water! Freaking thing turns to Jello and shakes like Little Richard!

Mine do that too.
I think it is because they feel refreshed (like we do after a shower) and because they've just had a whole body rub during the washing process. Plus, they are rubbing all over everything to try to get dry.
My dogs LOVE their bath time.

I think they are trying to dry off. Maybe their under coat isn't all the way dry. I don't know but my dog does it too. It is actually good for us because we put her flee and tick medicine on after her bath so she runs around and dries it. It is really funny through!

All of my dogs have done this too. I think its just because they feel free and they're just glad to be out of that tub. Thats the only thing I can think of. My boxer goes so crazy that he has actually knocked me down before. He runs around like a nutcase and has actually plowed into me and the dining room table and completly bowled it over. Its just so strange. Even my little peke does this. He runs around like a mad man too. Its actually very comical.

They are probably just happy to get out of that wash basin.
They also roll and run around to dry off - most dogs hate to be wet.

I think they just feel refreshed and feel good. Every dog I have ever owned has done that. Like why shouldn't they? A nice bath, a rubdown and brushing. Dog's life????
