I would like to tell you something you might not know...it is not instinctive for our bodies to embrace death...it might be for our Spirits...but our bodies will fight it because they are "programmed" for self preservation..like the immune system etc...so in the Spirit I will embrace it but in the nature of bodily functions it fights, so I will (if the condition so arises) choice Hospice because that is humane

I worked in nursing for 40 years, people who have faith in something seem to have an easier time dying then those without faith. For myself, I think I will embrace it. But I am getting old and have lived a good life......I don't know how I would feel if I was young and at the beginning.

I think if it comes much sooner or unexpected my biological instinct will be to fight. I can't imagine that any one "embraces" death unless it has been a long time coming and they have been very ill and need relief.

Embrace it instinctively? In all actuality even though we are designed if you will to die it is not in our instincts. Actually every instinct is hard wired to Survive. I will probably fight it because that's what I`m hard wired (instincts) to do.

Let me use an analogy to answer your question.

Buddhism points to the moment of death as being very important. It is said you should look back on your life with the utmost gratitude as you approach death and think to yourself, " That was GREAT! I'm ready to do that again!"

Depends on the circumstances. If it's violent or accidental, then I'll fight it. If it's natural, there's not a lot that I can do... fighters and quitters stand about the same chance if it's natural.
