Installing a camera wouldnt be the best idea since you run the risk of it being stolen also. I had the same thing happened to me and the one thing I regret was spending $65 on a sorry *** security system. So I turned around and spent $265 on a better security system that pages, sounds @ 60 db or higher, has a feature that kills the starter when the alarm is set off, and can be tracked via satellite from audiovox. So what I am trying to say is tha if you can spend 500 on a deck, then maybe you should invest in some security... and the next deck you get REMOVE THE FACEPLATE.......

Why would you install a camera in your car? Then you just run the risk of having both a radio and a camera stolen.
Just lock your doors whenever you go somewhere, and if you think you might be parking your car somewhere it might be jacked into, try parking a couple blocks away and walking a little bit.
Or if you're really paranoid, a loud security system would probably do better than a camera. Knowing what the guy who stole your radio looked like doesn't do much good. But if you scare him off with a loud alarm, then you'll still have a radio.

A video system would either allow you to actually see your next radio being stolen, or would itself be stolen. Not sure how either would really help you. I would suggest that you spend $100-$150 on an anti-theft system/alarm for your car. If if includes engine kill, you will get a discount on your car insurance.

first of all doing the right thing isn't always easy and 500 dollars may not seem like much to some people but to those that are actually busting their butts to work it is, so don't let his families or his roommates/friends make you feel like your making the wrong decision. You talked to the police and honey he is a thief so he will be punished for committing that crime. and yes most guys are douche bags but don't let that bring you down, there are plenty of guys that are the worst people in the world but for their bunches there is a guy that is great...a Mr. Darcy ...don't give up...you WILL find the right guy... you're doing the right thing...don't let anybody make you think different. Good luck

I saw this on pimp my ride once,....they had a camera that mounted on the steering column facing the drivers seat and when the silent alarm was activated the camera would take pics and then email them to your computer. I thought it was kinda cool, but probably VERY expensive.
