Would christians do it? I think they would.

dreamer, that is exactly my point. You would say that God gave you the ability to use reasoning, so I say use it. Someone else refered to the the story of Job, which I am all to familiar with. What king of God would do that to a good man just to prove a point to Satan? What an ******.

That is an odd question...did you know that Jesus was tempted with that very thought... Matthew 4:5...Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple."If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written:
" 'He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
But Jesus knew the word of God and fought Satan with it by quoting the word to him...."It is written do not put the lord your God to the test"...now here is my point because you asked would we do it if the bible says to...the answer is not unless we are truly guided by the spirit...the bible says a lot of things like "If your eye cause you to sin pluck it out"...of course it does not mean to go around plucking your eyes out...if it did NO ONE would have eyes. It is written so that we can understand that we need to be careful what we allow ourselves to be tempted with. I give you a star because it is a good question but the answer is no...we know how to discern the word of God.

Of course not, save for a few extremists. I'm an Eastern(Antioch) Orthodox Christian. You're obliged to be rational and respectful of yourself and others when interpreting and acting upon suggestions from the Bible. Literal commands regarding killing and other violence required from Yaweh (Old Testament), are not followed.

There's a world of difference between the blood-lust and racism in the Old Testament and the New Covenent in the New Testament. Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, is an excellent example of the contrast.

Sorry pal, but if the bible says jump off a cliff and the rules say you shouldn't take your life, then who the heck wrote that version? So in other words, and this is my opinion, a TRUE christian would question that part of the bible before jumping off the cliff.

But it doesn't!!. The Bible is a guide line to help us all make it though this life. I have thought about this a lot lately and no one on this earth can live up to all that is in it. That is why we can only try and give it our best shot and pray daily for help and guidance

I don't think they would. Christians through history haven't been very good at doing the harder things their Bible asks them to do (Turn the other cheek? Not bloody likely!) so I doubt they'd go throwing themselves to their deaths, which has to be infinitely more difficult than just loving your neighbor as yourself.

If one knows the Bible then one knows what to do and how to act in there life and there would be no need to jump off a cliff ,because it says in the Bile "thou shall not kill" , I think that means ourselfs also .....

But the Bible does not say that so what is your point? The Bible tells us how to live this life, who God is, and how to gain salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. God bless.

and then ... they would like, get lifted up by like, angels and stuff (sarcastic) But i would be happy that no one would be there to tell me that i'm going to hell "because you have not accepted jesus as your personal savior" and my favorite "so you're going to hell because in shunning god you shun salvation. what are you going to do when jesus comes down with his angels and you're left behind?" (my answer was that i would ask my doc for stronger meds)

The Bible does not ask us to do anything that would harm us.
