X-20's w/o a doubt, top irons of '07 by Golf Digest.

X20 I hit one on vacation last month and it felt good R7 are great also but the X20 felt that it cut right through the air

I own the new callaway x-20 i tried the R7's too, but the feel of the callaways gave me more confidence then the R7's but i hightly recommend trying them out first before you buy. I support the X-20's

Both of them are extremely good. I'd say those are the top two choices for a "Game-Improvement" iron. The r7's are for slightly better players though.
Try both of them, you can't go wrong with either.
