Lets say God and Jesus existed. We'll treat this the way Christian theology tells it, that God the Father sent his Son to atone for the sins of mankind. Let me rephrase John 3:16 a couple different ways without the piety. The Creator screwed up so rather than take personal responsibility he used his son as a scapegoat. A man gets fired from his job, so in anger he pushes his son in front of a speeding car. Romanticizing the language doesn't change the nature of the crime. Done by a god or human it is the same morality. So the question is is it the same morality or do you not judge god in the same way so it is "ok" that he did it?

That is certainly twisted theology.

Let's assume that this is an exercise in moral philosophy. That God sacrificed his "Son" for whatever reason deserves to be placed in the realm of immorality. One could state that this is not a possibility since God cannon be amoral. However, if merely behavior is the only criterion, then it must be immoral. With this dilemma the choice is between an amoral God or the God whose behavior is beyond reproach. However, are morals and behavior not in the realm of the human being? And is this not an anthropomorphization of God?

Without attempting to take your tone Let us try again G-d seeing and knowing that man can never live up to the perfectionthat would allow them to be in the presence of one who is perfectly holy sends a part of himself. Not as a "scape goat" but as the sacrificial lamb.( these are two different things)By letting this section of Him take human form and die as a human would die ( and yet not to die in another way as He is also spirit) He pays the debt that man can not pay himself . It is as if A man is about to go to the electric chair and at the last minute his father shows up and says let my son go freeI will take his place and walks into the chamber and locks himself in the chamber.
Joni Mitchell once said all romantics make the same mistake they become cynical and drunk and boring someone. You seem to have been hurt and now blame G-d for your pain. It won't make it go away. JCS the gains say negation of something is neither an answer nor a proof of your point.

You're a bit off base here.

Where in the Bible does it say that God screwed up?

In Genesis, He gave Adam and Eve a choice. They had two options: the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and any other tree in the garden-- including the Tree of Life. They chose to eat from that one tree, thus disobeying God and introducing sin into the world.

God sent Jesus to redeem us from sin... hence, John 3:16.

Jesus jumped in front of the car to prevent his father from being persicuted for a crime he didn't have anything to do with ,, Adam made the screew up satan was the reason ,, God tried to cover for adam, who was about to be fired for steeling the fruit.. satan seemed to think man could do alright without God .. God was willing to step in at the last minuet but JC and the boys told him to hold his horses , He was pretty sure he had this one covered .. He was crying by the end of it ... I don't blame him though ,, could have been kind of rough...

Many have pointed out valid points. God did not sin. Christ voluteered for the job. The other point I would make is God is all knowing he knew before creation that man would fall.
The Bible says the lamb was slain before the foundation of the world.
Jesus is not simply God's Son but God in the flesh.
It was God's plan before our creation to be a savior to his people.

Lets turn this on you...suppose that there is an illness that is sweeping across the whole world...scientist are perplexed as to what is causing the problem, then suddenly a scientist reveals that there is a cure but it will take a certain blood type and only one person on the face of the earth has that blood type..it is YOUR SON...would you sacrifice YOUR son for the sake of MILLIONS???? not just good people but ..rapist, murderers, and thieves? ...well would you?...I doubt it seriously..but GOD would because his LOVE is that GREAT!!!!..His ways are not our ways and our ways are not his ways...maybe you can see clearly the beauty of what God did for you when he became flesh and went willingly to the cross in your place...he BECAME SIN...he became a CURSE... and he went to HELL FOR YOU!!!! chew on that for a while.

Let me explain it without the piety.

God created the world and everything in it.
He put man in the garden and told him he had the run of the place - just stay out of the cookie jar.

Man lost no time in getting into the cookie jar.

God said, "I love you anyway" and let His Son take the spanking for it.

Now if you feel there is no God - that we came from apes, that the cookies were ours to consume in the first place, and that Jesus had it coming, then you'll have to answer to that when the time comes.

In the meantime, may God bless you and have a great weekend.

think of it this way. God knowing that man will turn against Him still gave us free will, which is needed to experience true love. He knew the only way He can save us is for His son, Jesus Christ to die for us. Error you say? sure He could have hardwired us to love Him but I think He prefers that we come to Him on our own will.

Surely this is not only Christian concept: Don't you remember a poem in high school that goes something like this (I paraphrase since I cant recall)- if you love somebody. let her go. if she comes back to you that is true love. God did not only let us go but He gave us the second choice by dying for us.

You have misinterpreted this scripture passage. The Creator did not "screw up", his creation did. He did not use his son as a scapegoat, he used him as the new Adam, one who would redeem His creation. Also, remember that the father and the son are one. Your question cannot be answered because of your statements.

Can I ask you a question? If you had all the answers but no one listened to you would you keep trying to get their attention? If after trying you realized that you could save mankind from itself by sacrificing your son, with the knowledge that he will live again and he accepted his fate, would you do it? Do you love everyone enough to do that for us? God does.

God Bless.
