No it is not tacky. What is tacky is the fact that your 'friends' have yet to step up to the plate on this one. Traditionally speaking the god-mother of your baby throws the party. I am the same way as you. I hate to let others run my show. If nobody has offered and you feel that you are up to it then by all means celebrate the coming birth by planning one heck of a bash. This way you will know about everything and have complete creative control over it. I hope you have one he*l of a time and feel free to let your friends know that YOU WERE THE ONE WHO THREW YOURSELF A SHOWER. Of course don't be pushy but yeah let them know.

Yes, it is. It is like begging for presents. If someone else wants to do if for you then let them. If you don't have a shower then invite people over a few weeks after the baby is born for a casual "meet the baby" party.

It is way beyond tacky to throw your own baby shower. One of the friends who wants to know when it is should be having it. You do not under any circumstances have your own shower.

I had a friend that sent out ones to her own shower. Now i don't know if she was the one throwing it for herself though. Honestly, I think its kinda tacky. If your friends want you to have one so bad, then why don't they throw it for you? I mean you could still have input in what you are having to eat and whatnot. And if you want games.

Instead of saying your giving yourself the shower. Why not have one of your friends organize th invites, making it a pot luk then have it at your house. Yes I think it is tacky. Let them get involved. You are also being a bit rude denying them the pleasure.

According to the rules of etiquette, you are not supposed to throw a baby shower for yourself. If your friends asked you to do it, though, I guess it's okay. Anyone who would be offended would probably just not come.

It sure beats having to wait until you're invited and then find out that none of your friends had enough time or were waiting for someone else to do it so it never got done. Your baby won't wait forever! If you all get together to do it, it will be more like a party then a priveledge. I think that's cool. Have fun!

People enjoy doing nice things for others. They will enjoy doing this for you and it sounds like they want to. Be available to help and give suggestions as to what you want. For right now, you should kick up your heels and let your friends take care of you. Soon enough you will have no time for yourself and will be devoted to taking care of someone else. Read a good book, play Suduko, catch up on sleep in advance. :)

Unfortunately, it is considered extremely tacky to throw a baby shower for yourself. It is as if you are asking people to bring you gifts. If your friends have offered, let them do so. I personally LOVE to give showers for my friends and my nieces. Don't rob them of this opportunity to show their love for you.
