I think animals must have souls. They have feelings, personalities, and are capable of love. In my lifetime, I have had four dogs die in my arms of old age. After they died, their was truly something gone from them, just like a person. It wasn't just the breathing or heart stopping, it was much more.
Some religions believe they do, some that they don't. Not real sure on specifics, but I believe that Hindu and Buddist believe they have souls, because they believe in reincarnation. Some Christian churches say they don't have souls, but I am not sure there are any direct scripture for proving or disproving it.

I know my dog has a soul :/ he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma a week ago and he is the coolest dog ever. Its so hard to make the decision to uthenise him. I just hope I don't wait to long, he is in so much pain. I give him pain pill's in the mornings and then take him swimming and play frisbee with him in the water. It make's him sooo happy. He does so well for a few hours afterwords, its like there is nothing wrong with him. But I can see the desease taking it's toll on him. It make's me so sad. Its unbearable to hear him cry. I figure as long as he can get in the jeep and make to the pond to play then he's not ready to go yet.

It's great you Love your Pet ,it's nice to have a pet you can care about . To think that we are the only things in this world God loves is be very self centered , GOD created all things big and small so why not Animals in Heaven , Here maybe this will help you .....
"Search in the Lord's book of living creatures and read what it says. Not one of these creatures will be missing and not one will be without its mate. The Lord has commanded it to be so; He Himself will bring them together. It is the Lord who will divide the land among them and give each of them a share. They will live in the land age after age, and it will belong to them for ever." Isaiah 34:16, 17
"And then I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, in the world below, and in the sea - all living beings in the universe - and they were singing: 'To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be praise and honour, glory and might, forever and ever'."
Revelation 5:13

every being has a soul, every being created by God has a soul, has a heart, senses.. and so on...
As for them going to Heaven - i never came across anything about that, so i cant tell you.
But animals are creatures just like us, we're the most perfect creations of God. Animals aren't that different from us.

I don't know for sure one way or the other. But, I cannot imagine God would give us animals to love and cherish and know how much we love them and then deny us them in heaven. That is not God's way. So, I believe, that if there is an animal that was loved like we love our pets, we get to have them in heaven. This is my own personal opinion. Hope this explanation helps you.

If man has a soul, then all living things have souls. Man is no better than any other organism on this planet. If anything, man is probably among the most vile, disgusting creatures to ever walk the face of this earth.

According to Genesis, God created every living thing for man's pleasure and use. Only humans did God create in His image (soul) "and breathed the breath of life into his (Adam's) nostrils and he (Adam) became a living soul." Our soul is what makes us in God's image. Animals feel pain if they have a nervous system etc... but beyond that, they are here to serve mankind.

Animals do not have immortal souls. Neither do people. Animals and people feel pain because we have a central nervous system. Having emotions or getting upset is a result of chemicals in the brain. God gave us a divine breath that returns to Him when we die, but it is not conscious itself. The breath of life + body=living soul. Neither are alive without the other.

of course animals have souls--soul means life--it doesn't mean body--it is only due to the presence of the soul that anything lives, breathes, moves, feels etc, This is why we never kill animals to eat them--its very sinful--
when animals die they don't go to heaven --they keep taking birth ----until they reach a human body--and humans keep evolving until we reach God--reach Him- not become Him as some fools might believe. You and I -have been animals before--But animal life doesn't give the chance to reach God!

Having an eternal soul is not about feeling pain. God formed man from the dust (flesh) like the animals but made man above the animals in his likeness with an eternal spirit.
