I just pierced my ear cartilage about 5weeks ago. I know they say to leave it in for at least 8-12 weeks but i want to change out the stud that is in there now. So...if i took out my stud and then put a new earring in right away...would it get infected or anything?

If you use a clean stud if won't get infected. The reason you don't take them out is so the ear can heal around it and not close over. If it's been 5 weeks it should have been long enough to be safe. As long as you stick another in AS SOON AS you take the other out. Like within a few seconds, not minute.

I have both of my ear cartliges peirced...and I did that with mine the 1st 2 weeks...no it wont get infected but it will hurt when yu 1st take it out. When you take it out, put some lotion on it right away so when yu put the new stud in, it slips right in...It wont get infected as long as the new stud you are putting in is real gold or silver...hope that helps.. =]

I did mine myself with an earing, although it hasn't got infected i would not recommend it if you have to though clean it before and after and continue to clean it, you would be best off going to a professional, ear piercings are not that expensive and can be hassle free if done correctly, hope this helps

it will get infected.. i had mine in for 8 weeks before i changed it and it got infected.. but thats because i take along time to heal.. if you wanna do it do it.. just make sure u clean it and spin the gauge around every time you clean it so that the cleaning stuff gets in the whole so it wont get infected...

Don't worry about it. I did the same exact thing. I got sick of the one I had in and changed it. It was fine it didn't get infected or anything like that.

More likely to I'm afraid, but it never stopped me in the past and my ears are still on my head.
