Our only hope is in God's mercy. When we seek forgiveness, we must recognise that we do not deserve it and therefore cannot demand it. Our appeal must be for God's love and mercy, not for his justice. Although we cannot demand forgiveness, we can be confident that we have received it because God is gracious and loving and wants to restore us to Himself.

Amen, Brother! I doubt seriously that Gaea, Evolution, Allah, the Masonic Lodge, the Mormon God, Buddha, Krishna, the Pope, or anything or anyone else can save us,either! In fact I *know* they can't!

"My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness." For all *my* righteousness is as filthy rags!

Later: "gavin n", You may have deceived yourself about it; but you never *were* a Christian! God loves you anyway and hopes you will come to Him and so do I (no, I don't mean, "come *back*")!

"When we seek forgiveness, we must recognize that we do not deserve it and therefore cannot demand it. "

But is the act of seeking forgiveness saving ones self? Lets think about this a second... If I step out of the way of a bus I am saving myself, right? If I go looking for a cure to a disease I have I am saving myself, right? So, If I seek out someone that can help me (IE God) I am saving my self.

Your argument is self defeating.

One thing that bugs me about your words is that it sounds like your reading a script , thats not bad what you said ,but what I have learned is that you can have a One on One relationship with God and talk to him the way we talk to each other , this is what he wants , not Robots , because we have to reach deep within are very souls to change and know that Jesus Died for us , not me , not you , not some dude down the street ,but to save us all so that we can Live and grow , not just as a Humans , but as one of God's Children , Because even in the Bible it talks about how we are higher then the Angels , to me thats Amazing .......

First, can a drowning man save himself? If he could, he would not be drowning. No one can save themselves. In today's society we use excuses such as: that we can make ourselves good enough, or pull ourselves up by the bootstraps, we have the means to be good, do good, no I am not saying I am as good as the next one, but hey I am good enough, I am just as good as anybody else. Or the excuse, I am not as bad as the other guy, I am least as better than the rapist, the mugger, the drug dealer, the murderer, the thief, the car salesman, I am just as good or better than that preacher on tv! Definitely better some of my friends, I am not all that bad, hey we grade on curve, doesn't it say in the bible God helps those who helps themselves, are we rewarded for doing good, so its just a matter of balance the good with the bad, on the scale my works are better than the worst I have done. So what's this point, I dont feel that I need to be saved from anything. I lead a good life - on and on and on go the lines. Yes you may be the best person and yes you may be better the worst criminal on death row, and yes you may be this and you may be that - but the scale is not on the basis of you against someone else - the basis of being able to save yourself is your record against God! That is where it lies! According to God you are dead in trespasses and sins, to God you are drowning in your sins, you are hopeless, lost, bent and filled with all rebelliousness - you are not as good as His Son who is the Almighty God - so if we look at it in this way - there is no way we can save our ourselves by our own goodness - absolutely no way!

That is why God bound all men over to sin, so that He may have mercy on them all, and put that mercy seat in the form of His Only Begotten Son, who was sent to die for not only your sins, my sins and the sins of the world, but to bring you into a correct and godly relationship where you would imparted, imputed and made righteous good whole and pleasing in His sight not by your own works - but by the accepting God's Son as your provision for your salvation for your hell - that is He took your penalty so that if you believe in Him and trust completely in Him, and gracously take His offer in believing that He died for you - He will reach down and save you from your drowning and sinful position and set your feet on the side of righteousness and goodness and give you a relationship that you may walk and continue walk in the way He wants you to walk with Him.

You are not asking a question, you are making a statement.

If you ask a question and then answer it yourself, you aren't really asking for other peoples opinions. You gave yourself the answer you want. That's not in the spirit of this forum.

But yes, we can save ourselves.

We can save ourselves from faith, which is "believing strongly in something for which there is no proof."

We can use logic, reason, and reality rather than superstition.
In doing so we live in reality rather then make-believe, and are better prepared to improve the world around us.

Eph 2
4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

where is the question? I'm not christian, don't believe in one god or goddess and yet am intelligent enough to know there is no question here. Stop using a question/answer forum for your mind numbing, brain washing propaganda
