The dentist took my 4 wisdom teeth out yesterday. But he said that he was going to leave the roots in, only for one of the four wisdom teeth. They put me to sleep with IV sedation and I felt nothing during surgery. IV sedation works great, it's the best thing. However, this is my second day after surgery and I can't eat solid food, this is the bothersome thing about this. I am worry because the dentist left one root in, and I don't know what's going to happen next. Does anyone know what happens when roots are not taken out? Will I ever have to get them remove in the future?

HELLO,
IF THESE ARE SMALL ROOT TIPS WHICH BROKE OFF DURING THE EXTRACTIONS AND THE DENTIST OPTED TO LEAVE THEM IN, THEN THEY SHOULD RE-SORB BY THE BODY IN TIME. IF THESE ARE MUCH LARGER SEGMENTS THE BODY WILL NOT RE-SORB THEM, BUT THEY SHOULD NOT POSE A SERIOUS PROBLEM.

It's fine. Your roots just happened to break off in the removal. Eventually, your body will push them out on their own.

As long as your wisdom teeth were not decayed or infected or anything, it should be ok. If they were, the dentist should have removed it stat.
