How long is too long to be apart?

I recently broke up with someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. The reason wasnt about us and was about her finding herself and figuring things out. Her past is troubled. She needs space and Im giving it to her. But how long is too long or too short to try to get back together? Anyone here ever gotten back together with an Ex and had it work out? How long was your apart time? How long till you've forgotten your feelings for another? Thanks for the help I hope to recieve.

well I will try to answer this question as best I can, because unfortunately i'm going through something similar. in this case I am damaged and my past is troubled at the same time my ex is trying to sort out his life and needs space...we've rushed into getting back together because we love each other and just don't want to be alone. bad move it ended up damaging more than it helped. because we never did fix what is was we started we sort of just...quit after we got together. now as for the feelings part he says he is done with me...and at this point I don't know if he loves me like he used to enough to want me back. I believe it hasn't died so I guess the best time to get back together and to make it work is when she says she has fixed what it is that she is trying to fix. to keep the feelings alive just give her space but stay close as her friend...if she loves you like you obviously love her you won't need to worry about it fading

for me 1 minute would be too long --- i think you need to let her know you are there --- just something anything to let her know she is not alone and that someone cares for her very much --- let her know her troubles can be shared and that you will stand by her --- dont let her be alone --- best wishes to you both
