but have the right plates or thing hanging from their mirrors should be allowed to?..........or should we all respect and save those spaces for folks who really need them?........

I did not mean to offend anyone, I just am not okay with seeing a person litterally "jog" out of a car or van or what ever and park where someone else needs to be.........I have a friend whos mom qualified, and rightfully so, she died 7 years ago and they still have the plates......

A $500.00 fine imposed on them is too cheap, they should lose their license to drive.
For the amount of handicapped people today there are not nearly enough spaces for them, and as I have noticed, most of the offenders are very young people with an attitude.

Not sure this answers your question it doesn't apply to everyone but...

I remember a woman came to our school and spoke about her health problems. It was so long ago I wish I can remember more details but I do remember she loses her breath and energy easily at times so she has to ride those electric carts some stores provides. She first has to worry about how to get to the store door when the parking spaces are so far away at the moment. Because of her health she is handicapped at times.

But on the outside you really couldnt tell. SHe only uses her sticker for when she needs to but its very frustrating to her when people look at her and say she doesnt look handicapped. Shes had to prove time after time that her doctor wanted her to have the permit to help her out. But yet everyone judges her saying she shouldnt be parked there.

And yeah theres people that beat the system and thats sickening to me on so many levels...but there are some that do need it even though it doesnt show.

if there is no one in the vehicle who is handicap then no they should not park there and it is common respect and courtesy to leave those places available for those who truly need it. both my parents are handicap my dad walks with a cane and has to use a cart at the stores and my mom had a knee replacement and walks with a cane and it makes me so angry to see people get out the car and walk perfect or jog. i think they need to crack down on the tags and requirements. my husabdns parents are not handicap and uses his grandfathers who runs 2 miles daily and take no meds?!!! it's very disrespectful and very wrong if you know someone who does this please speak up like me and tell them that it's wrong of them. i would never even think of using someone elses tag when i can walk.

Handicapped can mean different things to different people. I have a heart condition and can't walk too far without having to sit down because I become out of breath and have difficulty breathing. It is not something which is obvious to any observer yet I have a handicap license. There are people who have ashthma who can't walk distances. You wouldn't know to look at them anything is wrong. Handicap does not only mean crippled in the conventional sense.

i think unless you or a passenger in your vehicle are truly handicapped you shouldnt be parking there.
as a wheelchair user myself it annoys me to no end to see perfectly normal people using a handicapped spot just because they have access to a plate or tag
i also believe anybody CAUGHT using the afforementioned things should be heavily fined
i did not ask to be born this way. but having accessible spots makes it much easier for me to go about my daily life. im sorry if i offended YOU by saying all this, but consider living a day in my shoes and im sure youll see my point of view

So just because your friend has no morals just condemn all the handicapped? My mom can walk but she has severe neck trauma and also a degenerative illness. She used to look just like the people you are referring to but the illness is starting to take it's toll.

You didn't mean to offend but that's still very offensive. It's this kind of ignorance that I see from people all the time. You don't have to be in a wheelchair or on crutches to be handi-capped. Just because you can't see it with your eyes doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The person driving the car is handicapped and they can travel with anyone they please. It doesn't change their handicap status. Be careful how you look at who is parking in handicapped even with a sticker. Sometimes you can't see their handicap but they are eligible. I have a friend who has had a debilitating form of arthritis since she was 30 who can appear to be quite well walking away from her car but has so many days she can barely crawl from her bed to the bathroom and depending on the level of her disease could be wheel chair bound anytime. Don't judge.

People who aren't really handicapped but got the plates should lose their licenses. I don't agree with this new trend of parking spaces for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a choice and not a disability.

I think it depends on where you are. At the grocery store sure. But at my apartment complex, there are a MASS ammount of handicapped spaces, and they are NEVER full when I am there. I get home from work at 12am, and all of the spaces are vacant. When I go to work at 2pm, all of the spaces are vacant. When I go to the mailbox at noon, all the spaces are vacant. When I get home during my lunch break at 6pm, all the spaces are vacant. It's a little ridiculous. So if someone has a handicapped sign and wants to park there, even though they don't need to, go for it.

Here in Australia you can only park in the spot if the tag is yours. They even have photo ID on them now so that if the picture does not match anyone in the car you cop a double fine; one for parking illegally & one for displaying a tag illegally.

I have one for my Nan in my car & I have to take it off unless she is in the car with me. I even have to be really careful when she is with me - last week on our weekly grocery trip I dropped her at the doors of the supermarket & parked in the handicapped spot (so that when we have to walk back with groceries she doesn't have far to go) & centre security came over to me & asked to see the photo. I had to go & get Nan & explain that what we were doing so they wouldn't call the police to issue a ticket!!!!!
