If you dont have a layer of fat on your belly you will see them very soon but if you do - nobody will ever get to see your six pack even if you do gazillion crunches because sit ups dont burn any fat.
You have to have low body fat percentage to see abs which you achieve by cardio 4-6 times a week for average of 45min and healthy diet which consists of small meals every 2-3 hours (5-6 small meals a day).
You only need to do sit ups or crunches 3 times a week 20-30reps 2-4 sets.

You should see some results in about 30 days.

You could see results in just a week or two, but it really depends on how much fat you have around your midsection. That's the real key to getting your abs to show. (getting rid of the fat)

Before you start this regimen, know this: if you have belly fat, sit-ups will not get rid of it. In fact, it will make your belly more prominent because it will build up your abdominal muscles and they will push the fat out. If you don't have belly fat, this is a good way to start working on getting ripped abs.
