I went out with a guy I have been talking with for about 2 months. He asked if i wanted to meet at Starbucks for coffee and I said yes. Would this be considered a date or not really?

I asked a girl out for coffee one and In my mind I considered it a date. Um I wonder if she thought the same thing you do? Ask him out to coffee again and flirt a little this time. However, be as subtle as you can. You should be able to tell from his reaction if he is into you. If he seems uncomfortable at your advances then you have your answer

I use to meet this guy for coffee a few times a week and we would have a great time, now we are married and share a wonderful love for coffee as well as each other. So who knows.

Its definately an exclusive getting to know you in a romantic way type of thing. I think in counts as half a date cause it might have ended up feeling very friend like. Plus if you want to count the relationship in dates that doesn't count all the way.

No, just having coffee with a friend. going out to eat & to the movies is an actual date.

Well it depends on many things for example maybe he is the shy & afraid type and he did not want to ask you out on something he you might say no too. Or maybe he just asked you out to get to know you better so he can really ask you out but by all means its a start of a relationship

At the moment I would say that it just sounds like friends getting together, but I would say that there is potential there for a real date in the future. How do you feel about the guy?

NOT A DATE.
Wait till he asks you on a real date, at night when he comes to your door with roses.
