First off all, let me assure you that I wouldn't care less if I get a thumbs down, or not. I didn't even know - or wondered - what the levels are for until I reached level 4 .. I don't care if I make points or not, either. Whoever wishes can give me one when ever they fell like it BUT I hate to see them when I answer a touristic question i.e. which beach is the best or what to do in İstanbul. It confuses people who wants to be informed about my country.

I am capable of making 10 different accounts , work on them to get to level 2 or 3 and start voting for myself.

I don't do it because I believe that we are here to inform people and communicate, nothing else..

So...

What do you think about people who are obsessed with that thumbs down thing?

Think well before you answer; you may also make some "fans" who are trigger happy to make you the next target :)

In any open forum there are always people extremist on both ends. It is what it is, just like in life we pick and chose what we make issues of. Remember don't let them get to you it just empowers them to know they had an effect.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

Two famous quotes are;

The only way to make sure people you agree with can speak is to support the rights of people you don't agree with.

Human diversity makes tolerance more than a virtue; it makes it a requirement for survival.

As long as we can agree to disagree, points are of no consequence.

If I put a statement out there, the audience has the right to give me a thumbs up or a thumbs down. It's the people's choice, why be a dictator about it? Sure it's aggravating, but that's life.

Malicious intent or a contrast of opinion, we can't have one without the other. As they say, the yin and the yang are inseperable. What is good without evil (Just kidding)? for whatever reason, what is the YA Turkey section without those itchy trigger-fingers? Irritating as it may seem, they are like family now. Why not think of them as those obnoxious relatives who has come to visit? Just smile and put up with the b-ullshit. ^_^

It happens in the (french, at least) language section too. Sometimes, very good answers receive thumbs down, I guess it comes from people who want to hide good answers in order to be chosen as the best one. Sometimes it's obviously directed against the guy who answered, and doesn't depend on his answer. It's also frustrating to see how stupid or wrong answers are sometimes chosen as best answers, while very good ones are not...
Maybe a comment instead of a thumb down would be better.... but it could be worse too !
Anyway, I'm sure that clever people will read your answers even if you received lots of thumbs (up or down).

Oh "thumbs down" is a secret weapon, indeed very effective. It attacks its victim on a psychological base. (See "Why doesn't anyone love me?" adolescent rebels!)

But it curses the one who uses it. *eerie music* They remain forever as a LOSER.

It's a funny how even my trivial answers receive so many thumbs down. I usually try to give everyone a thumb up, while these people arbitrary give thumbs down.

I noticed here, that ppl are only giving thumbs down to show that ur not an interesting person or something, even if u answer normal Qs.

I just want to say,by thumbing down will simple not hurt ppls feelings LOSERS,so what ever u do keep thumbing down down down cuz thats where ur level is DOWN under!

I confess i confess, i did them all. All thumbs are mine :)

Seriously, firstly i thought these guys were doing that to only some people ( one of them was Ipek) but i saw that everyone was getting at least 3-4 thumbs down not depending on the answer. So that means there's someone with a couple of accounts who loves the people of this section. Let's thank him/her that he spends his time for this while he could try to be human in that time.Brilliant.

I do give thumbs down sometimes to the people i like here. But it's just normal. If i don't agree the answer is good, than i can do that right. It is the purpose of these thumbs thing.

Ps.to Leonarda: I give thumbs to the answers of questions i don't answer sometimes. It is possible that i don't know the answer but i know that the answer is not correct either. If i know it is not than i thumb it down.(Am not talking about your mentioned answer by the way. Just generalizing)

Edit: Heey are you taking revenge.Come on hit me :)

I don't really care about thumbs down. I used to ask myself "why" before, but now I am not even interested in learning why. They're my pride, hehe.

It's the basic idea of democracy and dialectic. People will either agree or disagree with you; you shouldn't let it get to you. The important thing is what you learn from it.
