(Okay, obviously a lot of illegal aliens are holding down good paying jobs with good benefits, but what about the rest of them?)

Recently Cook County, Illinois (neither the county nor the state has been unable to balance its budget) allocated $18.8 million to fund long term care for illegal immigrants. This was reported in the Chicago Tribune as an example of how privatization cuts governmental expenses. If not for the privatization angle, I doubt the story would have been covered.
What I'm really wondering is what is the total cost of all forms of health care for illegal immigrants at all levels of government?
I haven't seen "Sicko", not do I intend to, but I was wondering if Michael Moore examined this aspect of the story since he managed to take his "Investigation" to Guantanamo Bay.

Its apparent from reading these answers that these numbers I've quoted are wild *** guesses. Hell, at the Stroger County Hospital in Chicago, the admitting staff were telling the arrivals, "We don't take insurance here" when they tried to show their insurance cards. So if things are that screwed up, how could anyone remotely have a handle on this problem?

Gov Blagojevich sucks at his job and the state is in a complete chaotic mess. The budget is the problem and the allocation of money to help "illegals" is disturbing, but you should not and can't deny healthcare. I want them gone as bad as anyone else, but I rather have them be healthy istead of spreading disease because they can't get healthcare.
IT seems that the government of the US cares more about what the "illegals" think more than the US citizens, and they can't even vote (and most can't speak english). Does this country have it backwards in that sense? Yes. Why? The people in charge are moronic, selfish, fools.

lets clarify something here, there are 2 types of illegal, those that are border jumpers and those whose visas have expired, for those whose visas have expired, its the federal government's jobs to track people that are issued visas so that when the visa is expired they should be taken out, if they can't they have a responsibility to provide care for them. I will not comment on border jumpers because that is a different story, the UK is doing a far much better job at tracking immigrants , why can't the us do the same

That number is grossly over-exaggerated.
It doesn't take several groups into account, such as:
- Those who qualify for Medicaid / Medicare but have not signed up for it for whatever reason.
- Those who value their brand new cars in the driveway, their cell phone bills, and their big screen televisions over the welfare of their family
- Those with entitlement issues
- Those who consistently mis-manage their money and want everyone else to bail them out.
- Students and other adults who feel they don't need insurance, and are not interested in being insured. (They are out there)
- Yes, probably the 12 million "undocumented" workers getting paid under the table as well. If their employers are getting away with hiring them for meager wages, they certainly aren't offering them health benefits.

No.
And the figure is 47-50 million Americans without health insurance and another 40-45 million who are underinsured.
The figure doesn't include undocumented immigrants as they aren't American citizens.

Who would know, so many of the illegals just go through the ER and I don't know if they keep track or not. I think that they should have to log illegals. That would help some.

Yes, I believe they do. The main way they find out who doesn't have insurance is through ER visits, and illegals are frequently treated in the ER. So they should be included.
