If Christians are so dumb, or fooled, or full of it or whatever, why do non-believers even take time to answer our questions or pay attention to what we write or say?

There are some very good answers here. And, to Kerilyn, I did not write that Christians are dumb... read it again. It says "If Christians are so dumb..."

Because they feel the need to ridicule or degrade the beliefs of others in order to reinforce their own disbeliefs. They think if they make it sound ridiculous enough they'll be justified. Their only showing how insecure they are about their own feelings. Because a secure person feels quite comfortable believing or disbelieving whatever they want, they don't feel the need to disrespect others and their beliefs to deem there's superior. I notice this as well on this site. It seems like their are more atheist here than racists. Whenever someone mentions GOD, they act like your praising Hitler or something. I may not be a Christian, but I have a strong faith. I also believe that even if you don't respect religion, at least have enough respect for people not to spit on what they believe. Everyone in this world believes what they believe for a reason. Intelligent, secure people know this. Good Question!

I can't answer for everyone that responds but I do not think that everyone believes that Christians are "so dumb or fooled, or full of it or whatever"

Christians are not the only people that read the Bible. I am happy that a variety of people are on this site answering questions. This keeps this site an open minded and objective one.

I say, "Whosoever will" let them answer.

Good question.

Can't speak for all non-Christians, but:

Because I find the philisophical/historic debates raised by Christianity to be interesting. Some atheists are arrogant, buzz-killing a--holes, but most are interesting in discussing Christianity for more or less the same reasons as Christians.

I admit that on some topics(creationism for example) where essentially proven facts are disputed, my goal becomes to slap sense into people. That said, I can respect moderates of all faiths who use their religious beliefs to help make themselves better people, and am mostly interesting in philisophical discussion more than anything.

I was born and brought up as a Christian, was baptised and confirmed, attended church at least twice a week, studied the bible in great detail using the Scripture Union booklets. I have a great deal of knowledge about Christianity.

I am also capable of making up my own mind in what I believe, not in ignorance but through study and observation.

My conclusions are as valid as anyone elses on this important subject and I wish to share my views.

Do you want to gag me because my beliefs do not concur with yours? I am agnostic.

You betcha!!

Hello,

Because many consider that religion is just a fairy tale and crutch people have to use to get by or justify their mundane lives. They (believers) are therefore inferior in their thinking and intelligence. Nevertheless they (non-believers) do not like to neglect the education of their inferiors!

For the record I am not atheist but just relaying their message.
LOL, I have sparred with hundreds over my lifetime.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

This is like asking why an ex-junkie might respond to a question regarding drugs. (And claiming that it's because they secretly want to do drugs again, doesn't cut it.)

I'm here for the same reason everybody else is here: to give answers to questions regarding religion & spirituality.

As a non-Christian, I answer your questions because I believe you all need to hear the voices of non-Christians.

Non-believers think that Christians are the ones who are uninformed, or somehow naive. They must think they can make us become non-believers using logic and human reasoning to debate spiritual matters. Obviously, they do lack understanding of what Christians really believe and why we do. They are wasting their time.

because we scare them! To them we are, as our beloved brother Paul wrote in his letter to the Corinthians, a stench of death, for when they see us and the change Christ has brought in us, they realize that they are lost and that they need the Saviour.
Now they try to silence the voice of their conscience by ridiculing us, while their hearts long to be like us - washed in His Blood an reconciled to God!!
Let us not do the same, but let us show the the love of Jesus. Pray for them! God want them to be saved too!

Are we not allowed to have an opinion? Perhaps we're interested in learning, debating? I don't think that christians are any dumber than the rest of us!
