I didn't see that program but perhaps they were speaking about small pups while trying to do house training.
My dogs have water avaible to them all the time.

\i didnt see the programme either, but I do know that some of the large breeds are prone to bloat, its very serious in dogs and sometimes after they have eaten and depending on what they have eaten, if they drink a lot of water it can give them bloat, as the name suggests the dogs stomach bloats up and can kill it if not treated very quickly. another reason if the dog is drinking lots of cold water it both fills the stomach and tricks into thinking its full, so the dog wont eat, hope this helps

i saw a programme, not sure if its the same one, I think it was its me or the dog, where the two grey hounds kept urinating in the house.
Water should always be out for animals at all times, unless your dog does have a problem controlling his bladder and urinating in the house. But if this happening you should monitor your dog at all times and maybe consult a vet before doing this.

I leave fresh water out for my dog at all times! When I go to put clean water in her bowl, I always clean the bowl to make sure all the slime etc, that can grow on the bowl is cleaned properly! (what I mean is the slime etc that can grow on lying water)..therefore I change her water frequently, to ensure it's fresh.
I also saw, in a pet shop the other day, lol.. water for dogs! (buy one get one free)! Ooh and I saw isotonic drinks (like an energy drink) for dogs!! What a rip off!!!
Please always leave fresh water out for your doggie.. they will only drink it when they want it!

my mum keeps her dogs water outside. during the day the door is open so they can wander in and out and drink if they want it. at night they don't get it. if for some reason the door is closed the dogs soon make it obvious they want a drink.
if they are guzzling water it can make them sick but i don't see how they can have 'too much water' water is good for all animals.

dogs should always have water available. the only time you might restrict it would be if you were having a problem with toilet training.

What kind of program was that????
It's no fun being thirsty and having nothing to drink, not for humans and not for animals.
