Is it possible that the truth of God is too simple for “intelligent” people to understand? I don’t mean to knock intelligent Christians certainly their are many and the spirit will open the eyes of anyone, but it seems to me that the truth about Christ is so simple and easy to believe… maybe too simple for those who take PRIDE in their own wisdom. I, clearly, never had a problem with simple thoughts, since I have a simple mind, but does that make it easier to see the truth?
Go ahead and put me in my place if need be, certainly I am inclined to error, but if you agree that those who BOAST about their intellect may have a more difficult time believing please acknowledge that possibility.

No, not really, what I am wondering if man's pride in his own mind a barrier to accepting God. I know this may just be bunk, but I was wondering what others thought.

I never claimed it was truth. But you should also understand also that I am inclined to agree with those that use scripture to back their arguments.

the bible itself says that God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise.
1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Jesus also said "Mar 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. " and a child accepts things simply.

Why is it that you guys keep going back to this same line of thought - that the Gospel must be too simple for the intelligent to understand? That is crazy-talk.
It has nothing to do with pride at all - it has to do with how each person perceives three things:
1. Their need for a faith based life
2. Their perception of the religion being offered
3. Their knowledge of all things - religious and otherwise.
Non-Christians are non-Christian because there is something about the Christian faith that they do not see as something they should have faith in. It is just that simple.
Not everyone is going to believe the same thing - can't you just allow others their freedom to have the faith life they choose.
Your question is arrogant - and in a way that makes me glad I am no longer a Christian.

I don't take PRIDE in my WISDOM, but, no matter how hard I try, I can't believe your STORIES about your god. Sorry. Why is it that you and those like you can't accept that some of us follow different paths? Is it that hard to believe that, if our motives are similar (without, of course, your persecution, your 'killing in the name of God/Jesus', and your attacks on any other person, including Abrahamics that believe differently than you) we may end up in the same place?

Faith is required.
Intelligent people ask questions, and don't blindly accept tradition and dogma. Be thankful there are intelligent people. Without them, no airline pilot would be willing to fly the polar route (it would be flying off the edge of the flat Earth), and trips to Europe would be much more expensive.

Sure! Jesus said we must have the mind set of little children to enter the kingdom - intelligence is for those that think God needs them.....we need humility before a perfect and holy God - He will change us into His image - with no help from us.

Matt. 11:25 agrees. Jesus said to his Father, "You have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes."
The boastful want to elevate themselves instead of God so they fail. Just because God can, doesn't mean He must.

Knowledge about God is like an ocean: Children can enjoy the living waters edge, and theologians can explore the wonders of its depths. For me, I choose to know more and more about he One I love.

That actually does make sense to me..... i mean, isn't the simpleness just that God is love, and that's that??
