Well, I have been given signs of sort from the Lord. Not anything like seeing a red bird, though. Alot of times something will happen, and from the wisdom and discernment He's given me, I'll know what's going to happen next. Christians arent' magicians. We are supposed to study the Word. And the Bible says when we hear the voice of the Lord, we will know it. Be careful of demonic influence, the Bible says Satan can appear as an angel of light, and that we are to test every spirit.

two things -
#1 being intuitive is simply a combination of empathy, compassion and a good dose of observation skills. i am a musician, and i can usually tell someone is a musician by looking at them. i had bad vision when i was a kid, so i learned to watch body language to recognize my friends, and i also had bad hearing as a kid, so i learned to watch body language to determine mood. does this make me psychic? no it just makes me good at reading signals people are sending out.
#2 as for the dreams, you have to be very careful of those. your mind is a very powerful thing and can conjure up just about anything that you'd like to have in front of you, and may things you dont want to have in front of you, DURING A DREAM. Dont believe many things you dream. during sleep, your brain is simply cleaning itself of old thoughts, and mulling over problems you had during the day. what manifests itself as a apparition from the afterlife is simply your good observation skills prodding you to do something
- the last thing is this, you do not receive signs from heaven through dead relatives, if you are speaking of a Christian heaven. In the Bible, nobody speaking to the dead was ever on God's side.
Trust in God and develop the good gifts that he has given you.
EDIT:
i apologize, i didnt read the second part of the question if it was there when i answered. usually the signs of God are more subtle, but less easily confused with other things. Look in the Bible to see how God speaks. Today we have God's Word to rely on to find his will.
i am sorry for your loss , and i am also sorry that i skipped over reading about that loss. answering question after question, you end up kinda catching a rhythm and get carried away on it.

God gives some the ability (gift) of discernment. But I don't believe you would have a consistent sign of a bird or your Grandma would be in the dream. This doesn't line up with scripture as I see it. God does give dreams and visions. I suggest you seek the Lord on this.

Some people have those abilities, or senses, I believe you have. I think it is being awake and alive, and looking for, even passively, significance, and connection.
You say you lost a daughter a few months ago, what goes through your mind after that, looking for reasons, signs etc I can't imagine, but offer condolence.
