I got pulled over Monday 7/09/07 because I failed to stop at a stop sign. I know I didn't make a complete stop so I'm willing to pay the charges. This is my first ticket ever and I think the officer said something would be coming in the mail for me in 8-10 business days? I don't know what though.. the real ticket? More info on this citation? In any case.. it's the 27th of this month and I still haven't gotten anything.

Am I supposed to appear in court on the date it says on the citation no matter or what or should I still be expecting something in the mail that lists the charges?

I signed the little section that says: "Without admitting guilt I promise to appear at the time & place indicated below."

If I admit I'm guilty and don't plan on fighting the ticket.. do I still have to appear in court? Or can I just pay through the mail or something?

This is all so new to me so any helpful information would be much appreciated. Especially from those who have gotten this citation before.

You need to appear in court on or before the court date the the citation indicates. There would be no such thing a a real ticket. The white copy goes to the judge, the pink to the police agency, and the yellow is your copy. If you don't want to fight it, simply show up before the court date listed on the citation and when you get to court just tell them you want to pay the citation and see the court clerk.

What should be coming in the mail is a notice to appear. It also may be the amount you need to pay possibly through the mail without having to go to court if you aren't fighting it. BUT if you don't recieve it you need to show up on the date it says on your ticket. A bench warrant will be issued for 'failure to appear' if you do not. You have the 'real ticket' that is what you signed. The citation already says on it what you're charged with.

Need to check with the Clerk of the Court in your area -

ours is County/Parish wide - yours may be city - depending on which agency gave you the ticket

TRY to see if you can attend driver's classes - instead of a FINE(even though it may cost about the same)

B E C A U S E

then the points will not go on your record and your INSURANCE
will not jump to astronomical proportions

the number to call should be on the back of the ticket -

all the best !

when you get a ticket like that, you get a choice to go to court and fight it , if you think you were framed, or if you know you are guilty and just want to end it, just pay the ticket of the amount it says. you always have a choice.

It's not worth the fight of contesting the citation, if your conscience will remind you of it constantly...

Just pay the ticket.
