I'm thinking of getting a tattoo on the back of my neck. This decision was made on kind of a whim and right now I'm feeling slightly doubtful. I hear you should not get a tattoo if you have any doubts. The design does have a lot of special meaning for me though. Right now, it's just a little hard for me to grasp the concept that it will be a part of me forever and I'm not sure if I'll end up regretting it or not later.
Here is a link to the design though and the symbol means "hope":

If anyone could offer their opinion, it would be most appreciated. Thanks!

don't.

last year, my older sister turned 18 and she decided to get a dove on the back of her neck. she had no doubt then at the time, but after 2 weeks, she immediatly wanted it off, and fortunately had enough money to get it romoved. she wasted around $400 on that stupid tattoo. she said she never wore her hair down because it made people gawk at the back of her neck and it made her feel so disgusting.

some people love their tattoos because they like the artsy stand point of it, but if you have doubts, don't!

try a henna tattoo for a while. they are painted on using special chemicals and last for about 3 weeks until they fade and go away. see how you like it.

Do not get one. If you feel doubt now, you will regret later. I recommend you get a temporary tattoo. This way, if you don't like it, you can remove it. Not only are permanent tattoos permanent, but they are also unhealthy. And also, think about it. Do you think you will be the same age and look forever? Will the design be cool 20 years from now? Permanent tattoos should not be given or received. Get a temporary tattoo or just don't get one.

When In Doubt Don't
Especially a Kanji.
You might want to research
the meaning first, while you
are waiting to make the
decision, to tat, or not to tat.

Dont get it if you have doubts. You can try some temporary tatts.. buy one from a machine for .75 cents.. see how it feels..or try the Henna thing like someone else said. Dont do anything permanent until you know for sure that you can live it with it and not regret it.

I'd wait for awhile. If you still feel you want the tattoo in a few months, go for it. I waited years before I got my first tat and I don't regret getting it.

only get it if you are 100% sure. I would hate for you to look back in 6 months and say I" knew I shouldn't have done that"

Get a henna (spelling?) tat of the same design and see how you like it after a few days.

although I don't like to talk anyone out of getting tattooed, If you're having doubts, don't get it... if you're regretting it before you get it, you'll regret it later... I have several, don't regret them, want more... good luck with your decision

get someone to draw it on you in pen, and see how you feel living with it. if you like it, go ahead. if you hate it, just wash it off. but are you sure you don't want to wait until you get an idea of something more personal?
