I'd like to know what they check for in the physical exam, since I am considering enlistment. There are two major things I'm concerned about, and two more that I'm not so concerned about.

I received surgery for crossed eyes when I was nine years old. I don't have as many problems now, and my vision is correctible to 20/20 with a special prescription lens.

I also have eczema on my left leg and the back of my neck that I've been keeping under control.

There's also my two chipped front teeth and a 1.5-inch scar on my forehead, both from childhood injuries. I don't have any difficulties, but they'll definitely see that.

Otherwise, I'm fine. I'm of average weight for my height, have no serious health problems and have good physical and mental strength and endurance.

you'll be fine with the eczema and the scar i have 1 1/2 inch scar on my back and i was in i also have a scar on the back of my head so scars are no reason to get you disqualified.i also have a chipped tooth in the frnt so that's no big deal.your height and weight are fine so there's no problem there. You might have a problem with the eyes though when you get into any military branch your not allowed to wear your own glasses nor contact lenses every branch supply you with two pairs of glasses called BCG's ( birth control glasses they where called it kept the guys from looking at the girl's and visa versa rumor ). So you might have a problem contact a recruiter at Military.com and see what they tell you, you might be able to get a waiver.

You made it through boot camp and are to be commended for that as well as your desire to serve. Through no fault of your own, you have been medically disqualified from further service. Due to the short term of service, you were given an 'uncharacterized' discharge, which is administrative in nature. The problem probably 'should' have been caught at MEPS, but may not have manifested itself until the stress of basic training. I don't have enough details to discuss that. Based on your short term of service, you are not entitled to any benefits. You did not serve long enough to qualify. Not your fault, but the rule is the rule. I doubt you will have any luck getting the discharge changed, but even if you do, you will not have served enough time to qualify for the GI Bill school benefits. Again, not your fault, but the rule is the rule. Thanks for trying. Many don't.

Atopic eczema after age 9 is considered disqualifying for enlistment or appointment in the armed forces.

Yep, you will do just fine. Keep your head down when the shooting starts in Iraq.
