I am surprised to see someone has already posted that they object to all immigration legal or otherwise, it is kind of funny that being as America was founded by people who came here from other countries to build a new and free nation. So unless that person is of Native American blood then they too are descended from a person who stepped foot on these shores as a foreigner wanting to start a new life

US does have limits each visa type and limits to each country. Once those limits have been reached no more visa are issued for that calendar year, it is not a never ending flow of visas.

Only an imbecile would object to legal immigration. Legal immigration is how we keep a handle on our countries growth and employment (or unemployment as we have been seeing with the influx of illegals). We need legalized immigration to grow our country and help in the job force as we grow. This is simple economics. As more and more Americans chase and find the American dream we need employees to work for us. Then in turn these employees chase the American dream and as some of them find it they in turn need employees. Simplified explanation for a complex problem.

legal immigration is obviously better than illegal immigrants for obvious reasons, health issues, terrorism etc, etc. but then you have to look at other things with regards to legal immigrants. I'm not completely against it but here is my view. there is so much un-employment in this country and already a very dire situation concerning social housing. now if the government gave the un-employed more of an incentive to work IE: better pay, then there would be no need to bring in immigrants.

we have trainee and qualified doctors and nurses in this country who are leaving Britain to seek work abroad. yet we employ immigrant nurses as there is a shortage here. ???? immigrants are cheaper to employ.

skilled workers are un-employed up here in the north, because once redundancies came from ship builders yards, coalmines, steel works, what jobs were on offer for them? surely the government can put money to good use to re-train these people, and get them back into work. give the young people something to want to work for after they leave school. encouraging people to go into further education isn't the way neither. degrees don't lay roads and foundations for homes.

this question opens up a minefield, there is no one answer. this country doesn't necessarily need immigrant workers.

EDIT uk opinion

I am opposed to over population no matter what causes it. So to much legal immigration would be just as bad as illegal immigration. Over population contributes to global warming.

Not me. We need more legal immigration - here in America, anyway.

There are economic limitations to what a country can handle. The USA is certainly no exception. But as long as we keep within the limitations of what can be supported then no problem at all.
