Does it contain memories? Does it retain them indefinitely? Does it hold the personality? Can it perish? Does it extend beyond the body? How does it stay coherent? Does it cover the entire body? How does it stay anchored to the body? Where does it go when we dream, or when we are in a coma, or when we are sedated? Where does it come from, and where does it go to? Is there an infinite supply of new souls?

I say bollocks to the concept, it raises too many questions. Ockham's razor says it ain't there. Well, that and the complete lack of proof and evidence.

The soul does retain memories for the spirit and yes most indefinitely. The soul does not perish, just the body which is how we demonstrate life. When one sleeps that is when the spirit/soul dreams or astral projects. When one is in a coma that is when the spirit/soul stays by your body. (that is why they suggest to keep talking to the person in a coma) The spirit/soul is a spark from the Father Creator and goes to where ever you destined yourself to go. If there wasn't an infinite supply then human life would cease to exist. I mean with the way religion wants one to believe that your soul goes to heaven or hell, why would we even need to have a life why not let God just direct everyone where he wants us to go? If you lacked a spirit/soul you be like that light bulb without electricity(dead).

The most striking property of the soul is its absence of existence.
It is an imaginary essence invented by human creative opportunists as a tool to indoctrinate the masses. By telling them some marvelous hidden human property, a priest claim superior knowledge over one´s existence, thus demanding the right to rule it.
It´s one of the deadliest weapons in the theological arsenal.

The soul includes the physical body and the spirit. When the body dies. The saved spirit returns to God. The unsaved continues in the realm of spiritual darkness. "hell".
The soul of at least the saved. Retains some of it's personality,
memories and feelings.
At the resurrection, the spirit and the new physical body are rejoined, and live forever. The spirits of the unredeemed lost are destroyed, along with hell, in the lake of fire. At the "Great White Throne Judgment!"

Mr. Unpope?
Swearing at a concept doesn't make it go away. And as for raising too many questions? Isn't that what a concept is? The total sum of the questions that led to it? You can't make sense of the soul and your questions are all very clever and very probing but you don't care about the answers do you? And I can't truthfully answer any of them.

I did try though innit. :(

Ockham's razor's a bit faulty IMO... but then we Buddhists believe the mind, in conjunction with the capabilities of the sense organs, in this life, are what we function off of, so to speak.

You are one of those people who answer their own questions. Life is hard to define using Ockham's razor concept of simple truth. Life is not simple. Life raises too many questions. Let me ask you a question. Does LOVE exist? Do you think everybody is imagining LOVE?

Not prof, but I like to think of soul as a drop removed from the sea of consciousness. Of course for soul to exist you have to assume (believe) that the universe is conscious.

To explain the answer, you must understand that we are spirits, the soul is a spirit that lives in a house (the body)

The soul has memories of this life, within this body, only.
When the body (house) dies the soul retains all memories until it is born again at which time all memories are swept and emptied.

The soul (house) does not retain memories, however the spirit retains personality traits, this is why some spirits believe that they are in the wrong body (houses).

Only after the the new house, has been made male or female does the spirit enter into it.
The soul once released can not perish until the day of "Blessed"
The soul once released is no more a soul it is now spirit.
The spirit enters the body by the first breath and leaves upon it last breath, For the Father Gives life and the Father takes away.
Those of the spirit world can only communicate with souls through dreams. Souls are subconscious in nature, therefore only through subconsciousness can they be influenced.

Comas, schizophrenics, psychotics, autism, and many mental disorders are caused by influences by other spirits. When an unclean spirit goes out of a man (the house dies) it is sent to purgatory, a dry place where it must wander, seeking to find Rest, but it finds none. finding none it returns to the house from which it came out of, But it finds the house locked (dead) therefore it seeks a new house, (family line) but when it goes it must take 7 other spirit more wicked them himself, but when they get to the new house, has been swept and empties (all knowledge of past lives and heaven gone) and that the new house (no new wine in old bottles) has been garnished (made male or female) only then can they enter in.

Where do souls come from, souls are spirit that have been housed in a body.
The spirit in the beginning was born of God the Father who art in heaven. God is our Father, we were made in His image, a spirit. Because God is our Father and we are his children, God wanted more for us, so He created us a playground, the universe. But we could not interact with those things that the Father created, so God created us houses.

God created us spirits, than he created houses for those spirit, He did not create man and woman, God created first spirit than he made those spirit male and female and the whole earth was green with food for them he created. They could feel hot, cold, rain, wind, and love, they all loved one another, for they were made by God in His image, with His word.

Is there and infinite supply, no, We (spirits) were created before the foundation of the universe was laid, howerver, before Jesus came no soul (spirit) was allowed back into heaven, therefore Jesus did not judge anyone, Jesus judges no man, he judges only spirits.

Jesus released ALL spirirts from hell and Judged them, and he created more rooms (levels) in heaven (the Promised Land) and to everyone that was found worthy He assigned a level, but He also created a garth, and paradise, and will create the Lake of Fire.

Unclean spirit must go back and be born again, but clean spirits do not have to go back, those who choose to be born again, wait in heaven in the room know as the garth, for a new house to be born with their family.

Unclean Spirits that must go back are kept in a room called paradise.
Evil Spirit are kept in the lower level of heaven call hell, but they are still in heaven.

We are spirits, but there is another father, this is what cause Lucifer to be cast from heaven. Lucifer wanted to be God, so he created spirits also, in his image and likeness, but they ate flesh, the killed what God the Father who art in heaven had created.

The real story of Eve is found in Revelation 12
