I ask this question because atheism doesn't necessarily mean without spirituality (e.g. Buddhism).

It's not that I don't 'believe' that there are souls.

I'm open to the possibility that science may someday reveal that we exist in some yet undiscovered dimension that lives beyond our physical bodies- there is not yet even a shred of evidence to support this hypothesis.

I cannot prove that we don't have a soul, but it seems highly unlikely based on what we DO know about biology and our existence.

Atheism doesn't necessarily mean to be without spirituality, but it does to me. When I stopped believing in God, my beliefs is angels, demons, souls and things that go bump in the night all fell like dominoes. There's absolutely no evidence for the existence of a soul.

Nah... Christians have a totally whacky idea of what the 'soul' is supposed to be. For the Jews of biblical times... including Jesus (if he actually existed)... the 'soul' was an enveloping emanation from the godhead that resulted from the community's relationship with god. The soul as a component of a human being (Christian view) is an artifact of Greek thinking on 'dualism'... which was incorporated into Christian dogma and lore by Gentile theologians, who were ignorant of the Jewish concept of 'soul'.

So... everyone's worries about what happens to their personal 'soul' are of no consequence... it does not exist.

If Jesus had heard you talking about your 'soul', he wouldn't have had a clue what you were babbling about.

No.

And I find that bringing notions of "souls" into the picture is just an act of wishful thinking, whether it's wanting to believe that good/bad things will happen to good/bad people, or happened in a previous life in order to explain bad luck, or in the hope of seeing a loved one again, etc. The notion only confuses things and begs more questions. Death is the end of consciousness.

No, the vast majority of atheists don't believe in any kind of superstition at all, or anything from the "spiritual" realm. This includes, of course, souls.

No. The concept of "soul" is divine in nature. We have no such thing. Personal energy perhaps, which would create the occasional ghost, but no divine soul.

Well, you likely know then, that Buddhism believes that the mind goes on and not in a "soul" as it's commonly defined.

Only in the same way that all living creatures have souls, but I prefer to call it a life-force.

Of course we do, otherwise Cthulhu would starve! He needs a nice juicy filet of soul on occasion!

I believe we have an "essence" that is who we truly are apart from our bodies.

I believe we're more than just our bodies.

I guess for some people that would be a "soul".
