I am retired and bored. I have read so many things about how to get out of jury duties. Have been on two juries during the past 10 years (selected as foreman both times). Was it fun - NO. Was it significant - YES. Did I want to be on these juries before I retired - NO (but I did it anyway).

Now, I would like to donate some time to do something that other citizens either do not want to do or, do not have the time to do such.

Contact your Clerk of Court in your county. I don't believe you can volunteer for duty but the laws in your state maybe different. However they may need volunteers with other duties around the legal system at the courthouse or also most sheriff offices use volunteers for many things.

Good luck in supporting your community, I have for yrs and would not trade it for anything.

It's great if you want to volunteer however, to make the system fair, the best way to poll people and make sure the pickings are coming from a wide variety is to use the list of voting people. I don't know how they pull your name - but I do know that if you are a registered voter the chances are good you'll get selected. Make sure you vote regularly.

I don't think you can volunteer. Jury summons are sent randomly. But I've heard that once you are on one, you keep getting summoned back, so don't rule out another chance to serve.
