We have owned this truck since new and it has given us many good rides, but my husband is not yet ready to give "her" up. Today he came home and said it was on high idle and wouldn't slow down. He worked on it all day and can't get it to tone down. Also, don't know if it is related or not, but the gas pedel cable broke and he has to get a new one of those. Any mechanics out there have any suggestions to help my hubby keep his baby running. Thanksl

Replace the throttle cable and it should go back to normal. Your choke may be stuck on the last setting, manualy move it one click back. The cable is your culprit though.

Make sure the choke cam is off the last step. If there is a gap between the idle adjustment screw and linkage ,something not permitting to get full movement

Sounds like your problem lies in the accelerator linkage since the cable broke, that's most likely the problem. And since the cable broke how was he driving it in the first place?

Should of bought a Dodge Ram,I had one go 180,000 with no problems and one with a diesel go 400,000 miles with no problems.
