Chances are, you'll find out why he is so shy by the end of the night. Just ask him about his interest, things like that. Eventually, you'll hit a nerve that won't get him to stop talking. Shy guys just sometimes need someone to listen or someone who has good ice breakers. :)

being shy generally comes from an insecurity of not know what to do or how to act in certain situations.

Im kinda shy myself so i know what your saying... best thing to do is try not to make him feel uncomfortable.. It would be best if you do alot of the talking at first until he gets more comfortable with your company and he gets used to you. Then he should be fine !! Good Luck !

ask him questions about things he is interested in such as his favorite types of music, movies, games, etc. If he is interested in something you know little to nothing about, that is the perfect opportunity to get him to talk more by asking him to explain it. Get to know him just like you would anyone else. Silly questions like his favorite super hero/cartoon as a kid are always fun ice breakers.

start with something simple maybe get him to talk about his job or school look interested even if it is extrememely boring and after awhile he should open up

just be yourself,ask him questions about his likes,and dislikes,family,schools etc...some people are just born shy,they cant help it.
