Nuts may be toasted in a dry skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir until they're golden brown.
To toast in the oven, spread nuts on a baking sheet. Bake at 350°, stirring occasionally, for about 10 to 15 minutes.
To toast in the microwave oven, place 1 cup of chopped nuts on a paper plate. Microwave uncovered on HIGH for 3 to 4 minutes, or until they smell toasted. Rotate the plate a half turn after 2 minutes. They will not brown.
Tips:
Warmed nuts are easier to chop.
Always taste nuts before using; rancid nuts will ruin whatever food they're used in.

I toast mine before I'm about to use the oven to bake something (I hate to turn on the whole oven for just nuts!). But I put the heat at around 300-350, then put the nuts on foil and roast them for about 10 minutes. But I check them often after 6 or 7 minutes to make sure they don't burn.

The best way I think is in a fry pan which is easier to shake, and you can keep your eye on them.
Don't overcrowd the pan. It is better to do a few at a time, so that if you do get distracted you will not spoil the whole lot.

I use a medium cast iron skillet. It's easier to shake the pan occasionally and watch them than if they were in the oven.
