We need to think Globally and Act Locally. Whatever we do locally impacts on the rest of the world. Overpopulation will ultimately place too many demands on finite resources.

People Care: By concentrating and limiting the unsustainable consumption of resources by the first world, we automatically address some global issues. Acting locally ensures People Care, but we also need to consider quality of life world wide. When we are not making such extensive consumer demands (Greed) more sustainable community and local livelihoods are promoted. Which minimize the earnings gap, poverty, and inequality of wealth throughout the world. As well as the environmental costs of production, disposal and transportation.

Every time you buy something there are costs, to equity, to people globally and to the earth. Limit your consumption of everything, there are finite resources.

The more you consume, the more waste you produce. When you buy anything always look at packaging, is it overpackaged, is in packaged in recycled material, can it be recycled...do you REALLY need this item or will you toss it in a couple months? Are you buying it becasue you NEED it or WANT it. Are your buying it to look trendy, be cool, or to "keep up with the Jones' "? When getting rid of items.. always try to give them away to someone that will use them, or donate to your local salvation army or goodwill..never just throw things away. Are you familiar with the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure".

Every item was manufactured from raw materials taken from the environment. Each item made used energy to make, resulting in air pollution. Each item was transported from the factory to you, causing more air pollution. And when it gets old and you throw it away, it will take up space in a land fill.

our consumer driven lifestyle is depleting the natural resources - there is allot of energy involved in making and shipping products.
