There are a lot of variables that can affect your husbands bonus. I cannot speak about the USMC but one of my NCOs reenlisted at the beginning of June and he got his bonus with in 10 days, but he also sold back 30 days leave that he just got paid for it this week.

The two biggest things that will affect the process are the reenlistment staff and the finance section. I have known some reenlistment staffs that turn all their reenlistment packets in to at a specific time of the month. This can delay the packet for up to 30 days. The same thing can be said about the finance sections too. I have seen where they only process certain types of actions at certain times. This maybe help them be more effecient at the actual task of processing but it doesn't help the servicemember who ends up waiting for their bonus. Once it gets out of the local finance section the process moves rather quickly.

The best thing your husband can do is to wait until the end on the month (that's a reasonable time allowance for it to get processed) and if he hasn't gotten it, then ask his first line supervisor to check on it and see if it has been forwarded to the finance section. If it's at finance, his supervisor can ask the reenlistment NCO to follow up on the packet.

Best of Luck and have fun on you trip.

It took me three days to get my bonus when I re-upped in October. That is the only time I ever got a re-up bonus, out of 4 re-ups, so I don't have any real basis for comparison, but I though it was smoking fast. I was not deployed at the time. I think your husband's bonus should still be non-taxed whenever he receives it, because the important part is when he earned the bonus. Good Luck

That depends. First, not all jobs in the military are eligable for a bonus. Unless he was specifically told he would recieve one for re-enlisting, he may not be getting one. He should check. Next, there are various ways it gets paid out. The norm is for him to get the first payment within 90 days for a certain percentage (50% is the usual), with the remainder paid out is equal amounts on the anniversry date of his re-enlistment each year for the term of re-enlistment.

I guess things have changes a lot since I was in (Discharged June 1992). Every time I reenlisted, my bonus check was handed to me after I signed the papers and raised my hand and took the oath. I'd wait until the 1 August Payday anyhow, and if I didn't see anything then, check with the disbursing office on a status.

Not sure about the Marines, but when I was in the Navy just a few years ago, I got half of it the day I signed the papers and then the other half was divided by the lnumber of years he re-enlisted for paid on the payday following the anniversary of the reenlistment. By the way tell the Devil Dog a retired squid says thanks for his service. My lil' brother is a Navy Corpsman in Iraq with the Marines. OOHH RAH!

Last one was only 2 weeks, they only deposit them in your account on Friday's. That is the Army though.
