Well I would've said CBGBs....but they closed it!!!!

I really enjoy Terra Blues, probably one of the coolest blues bars I've ever been to.

There are tons of clubs and live music venues, depending on what type of music he likes. Try any of the bars/lounges in the Lower East Side (LES) and Greenwich Village. Bowery Ballroom always has good shows going on.

The is the Virgin Megastore at Union Square if you're looking to buy stuff, but a great record shop for music lovers is Academy Records at 12 W 18th Street.

Washington Square Park. Its a mix of so many differnt kinds of music, and its one of the most underrated places to go in NYC.

Coney Island. They have bands performing and they have free CDs and free stickers, etc. from bands like Linkin Park, The White Stripes, etc.

Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. It's not as good as it once was, but still you have interesting clubs there.
