Focus. The Yaris might be lower priced, but that doesen't make up for the cheap interior and odd looks. But I would wait for the '08 Focus because for that model year, it is getting redesigned.

The Focus is a very good car. Reliable and safer than a Yaris. I looked at a used Yaris is is unbelievably cheap and extremely ugly.

American cars = bad, unreliable, bad gas milage, ugly wont pass 180,000 miles
Imports = very reliable, great gas milage, good resale value, and you amost never get a single problem even though they have 200,000 or more
