I mean all you would have to do is politely say no, so would you still feel someone was trying to cram something down your throat?

I would, and I am a Christian. I think it does more harm than good.
Watch me get thumbs down from fundamentalists.

I wouldn't feel in the least inconvenienced or accosted if someone politely asked if they could share their religious experience with me--as long as they would leave me alone if I answered with a polite no.

I believe in freedom of speech and religious freedom, and I enjoy discussing religion with people in the right setting. I just don't want to be hit over the head with it in a public place or have a dentist preach to me while I'm trapped in the chair.

Would I feel accosted if someone asked if he or she could explain the 'Good News' of the Gospel to me?

No.

If I wasn't doing anything no, but if I was obviously occupying my time with something else more entertaining, I would feel accosted. It's just like when those annoying people come up to you on the street and ask if you wanna buy a watch.

Sometimes it's hard to have conversations about the Gospel because frankly I am not really used to super excited people other than myself. I have kindly turned down people, not because I don't love God, but because I didn't want to talk at the time. I used to have Jehovah's Witnesses knock on my door at inopportune times and yeah, I felt a little put off. I appreciate people who are on fire for the Lord, but there have been many times that I have felf they were shoving on me against my will. Spreading the Good News is a wonderful thing, but we should really try to be respectful of one another and not shove it when people are not comfortable. God Bless

No, I wouldn't feel accosted, but if they did try to cram it down my throat; I hope I could be nice and tell them: thank you, but, I'm fine with where I am.

If I was in a Church, no. If I was on a street corner or in my house, maybe. Would you feel accosted if I walked up to you in the street and asked to explain the finer points of Judaism, or Paganism, or - God forbid - Atheism, even if all you had to do was politely say "no"?

It bothers me when someone tries to do this, because they seem to basically be telling me that the way I'm living my life is all wrong based on their personal system of beliefs, and I'll burn for all eternity as a result. Usually a polite "no" has no effect.
How do you feel when someone politely explains the factual/historical inaccuracies in the Bible, or tells you the history of Constantine?

That depends on the context.

If someone walks up to me on the street and asks for anything other than the time or directions to an address, I would feel accosted.

By the way, I thought Catholics didn't "do that"?

I wouldn't feel accosted if they accepted my "no", and smiled politely, and walked away WITHOUT saying anything further.

IF they continued on, though, yes I would feel accosted, and I'd call the police.

I would politely say no and would not feel that way, unless...

unless it is on a weekend in the wee hours of the morning (read: before 11am). Then I am afraid I might feel a little cranky.
And I live in west Michigan, the northern bible belt.
