We are thinking about a moissanite ring for the engagement... I just want to know what other people have experienced with moissanite... I have heard good and bad... in particular that the stone could be grayish or yellow in daylight... is this true and if so does it look horrible... This would be a great alternative for us because we are on a limited budget. There are some really nice styles from Bella Jewelry Co.

My original ring was a 1ct diamond but it was lost and since we didn't have money for another diamond we bought a moissanite, my FIL is a jeweler and he suggested it for us and it is beautiful! I have not had any problems with it at all! Just do your research!

only the older moissanite stones (3-5 yrs or more) look yellowish -- and only in the fancier cuts. I just got a 3 stone ring from an e-tailer called amantsbydesign and it is so much prettier than any of my diamonds. there is a page on their website that tells all about moissanite - - - very informative. I looked at several websites and made quite a few calls to different ones, amantsbydesign had the best prices and the best customer service....some of the others were quite stuck up and rude. I had alot of questions and they were the only ones who took the time with me and didn't make me feel stupid. I hope this helps.......

I dont actually know what a "moissanite" ring is. Is it some kind of gemstone or a manufactured diamond. Some of the fakies I have seen from a store called Secrets....they are beautiful and I could not tell the difference from a really beautiful diamond. They are still set in 18 carat gold. Heaps cheaper. Then maybe one day if you get more cashed up you could get the real thing put in.
I am actually looking at a ring with a Tanzanite in it. I think they are just gorgeous. Good luck with what ever you decide. And you dont have to tell anyone anything.

what I have read and heard about moissanite is that the brilliance and clarity surpass a real diamond. I have not heard of any yellow or grayish tint to any of them. Beware that they can be costly. Some are as pricey as a real diamond. If the size of the diamond is important, then go for the moissanite. No one will be able to tell. Jewelers can't tell by sight either. If size is not important, then I would go with a real diamond that is within your budget.

I have only seen them in person at Helzberg Diamonds in the mall and I could not tell the difference. As long as you go somewhere reputable it should be okay.

i haven't heard anything bad about them. i would like that for my stone. or a brilliant cut white sapphire.
i would make sure you went to a good jeweler to purchase it. see if they can set the stone while you watch/wait so you know what you are getting.

Better to go with a CZ if you don't want a diamond. However, if it's just a money thing, you can get diamonds and gold for $100 and up...
