I would file a police report regardless. Then I would call my insurance company and let them deal with it. The at-fault driver's insurance company would then probably send out an adjuster to see if any damages were done. If they can't find any damage either, than there is no claim to file and you're done. Your insurance won't go up and if for some reason your bumper fell off in two weeks (or something else) you can try to open up the claim again.

what do you mean file a claim? How can you file a claim if your car isnt damaged? I dont know if you are in a different country than me (UK) but here if you have an accident you have to send your car to a garage (usually one that is recognised by the insurance company) and the garage does the work and gets paid for it. You never see any cash. I think they changed it because of people who are dishonest and make fake claims!

If you deem that the accident did not damage your car and the other feels the same. Then you guys went you separate ways without getting info or filing a claim then you have just made it as if it didn't happen.
It's always best to let your insurance company know what happened so they have something on file.

Maybe get the insurance info just in case but to file a claim is not advisable unless you have something legitimate. That is called fraud.
People filing frivolous claims is what causes rates to go up, so in the long run you are affecting your own rates.

Happened to me before, nevel gonna let it happen again. The lady who hit my car started crying and said if I just take it to any shop and give her the appraisal, she would take care of it. I am yet to received a penny, and on top of that, she was really nasty on the phone when I called to ask why she was denying everything.
My advice, always file a claim, and if there are really no damages then no harm done, but you can't go back and change things, so call the cops and report it. Medical issues don't show that quick, sometimes take months. REPORT it.

has happened to me before and i didn't file a claim didn't feel like waiting for the cops and the report and all when there was no damage. they would have just wrote no damage on the ticket and you wouldnt have been able to get any money anyways unless you claimed pain and suffering and even then you would have to have a medical note stating that its true signed by a doctor! its not worth it if there is no damage just tell the driver to watch where he is going and keep driving.

If there's no damage then no. It'd go on your insurance that you made a claim. So my insurance rate would go up. Plus if you have a deductable, you'd be paying that before insurance would cover anything anyway.
So why would I file a no-cost claim that would do nothing but make my rates go up?

No, u should nvr file a claim eve. WHy would u do that, especially now? Itll just raise ur rates. All u should do, if theres damage is agree to pay him or him pay u wtvr u think its worht, and have nooone report it. That way no one gets screwed by all these scaming insurance companies. Ive nvr filed anything yet. Especially if theres no damage.

I would get a contact, and probably ask for his insurance info.
I had a crash about 4 months ago. Well, the car got damaged and the insurance covered it. The lady that crashed me was nice, didn't throw any BS about it.
But at that moment, I felt pretty fine. Two days later I had to go to the medics because my neck was killing me. It turned out that the crash had whiplashed my neck, and I needed to use the neckbrace and go to PT. I called her insurance and told them about it and they covered it. If I didn't had that info, I would need to cover for the whole stuff.

I would still make the claim just in case there was damage to something other than the body, or you may wake up the next morning stiff.
You at least always get their info.
