I believe He is who He said He is. I believe He performed those miracles on earth 2000 years ago and continues to perform miracles today through the Holy Spirit.

The fact that Jesus lived is never in dispute. His existence and the fact that He performed miracles is documented and not just in the Bible...The Famous and most Memorable Works of Josephus talks of His life.
I am a born again Christian and have witnessed miracles but I would never talk about them as people would want their 'proof' and it is impossible to prove a miracle unless you witness it yourself. It is the same with having a relationship with Jesus the Living God.....you have to find that relationship by following a certain path...which most people cannot be bothered to do.
Suggest you attend an alpha course which is a non-denominational course...which is FREE and explains Christianity and what you need to do to know the Lord personally....yes...personally.
http://www.alpha.org
There will be a course at a Church near you and you can find it on the site.
May the Lord Bless you with the wisdom to do this...it may be the best thing you have ever done.
Best wishes, Mike.

Let's remember what we have to go by. We have Roman and Israeli texts from the period of time when he was said to live. These ancient records do show that he lived. Now the bible, which is a collection of stories, accounts, etc., was created by men during a council. They decided what was to be placed in the bible and what accounts would not be allowed in. Because of this we can only extract a portion of truth from the bible. So we do know that he lived. We do know that he was crucified. This comes from the ancient Romans. Now we have to make guesses. Was he divine? Did he perform miracles? This is where your faith comes in. If you believed he was divine then he would have the power to perform miracles. I believe he was a good teacher. He taught some very good morals. Did he perform miracles? Why not? There is so much that we still don't understand about the world around us that anything is possible. And just because there isn't proof that it happened doesn't mean it did not happen.

Well, there are two clues that people have that Jesus was who He said He was, and that He did perform miracles:
1. The oldest Christian writings date back to within five years of Jesus's death and (supposed, if you don't believe in it) resurrection. Five years is NOT long enough for legends to surround something. That would be like if, in 1868, people started saying that Abraham Lincoln had walked on water, and that he rose from the dead. The oldest book in the New Testament, Galatians, is believed to have been written in 50 A.D. Fifteen years STILL isn't long enough for legends to pop up. Why not? Because witnesses to the events would have still been alive...and even the people who didn't believe in Jesus didn't say that He hadn't performed miracles. They simply said that He was demon-possessed and/or crazy.

2. The apostles died proclaiming that Jesus was who He said He was, and that He performed miracles. Would you die for something you knew was a lie? Would you say you witnessed something you didn't, if saying so would result in you dying a violent death? I know *I* wouldn't!

So that's how I know. Or at least, those are the two main reasons. I don't know if you'd consider me a "zealot" or not, but I AM passionate about my beliefs.

Yes he was, and if you study the Old Testament, you will find that his coming was foretold many centuries before he came. Yes he preformed miracles, but his main reason for coming from his Father to the world was to Give Humankind a chance to repent, and he is still doing so today, if people will only listen. How could many simple folk in the Old Testament have foretold the events that took place after his Death, and which still is spoken about, and debated today. If he did not exist or was a person of no importance, why would so many people in his time and today give their lives for him?

I believe He was real and did even more than was written in the Bible. Every one of his disciples was willing to die to tell others about Him, and most of them did. People like Lazarus had no reason to go to Spain and France telling people about him, but he and his sisters Mary and Martha are now buried there. His followers spread His fame over much of the known world during the first century. These people had no reason to leave their fishing boats or tax jobs but they did. There had been many "religious leaders" inciting the people to rebel against the Jewish establishment and they had died out. Jesus' message is still going 2000 years later. That is not just charisma, that is miraculous in itself.

No. The bible is not very reliable in that sense.

The New Testament was written 30 years after the death of Christ. The entire bible has been passed down through more than 2000 years of being edited and added to by scholars and scribes with their own fantastic, imaginary tales to tell. The bible has been mistranslated into many different foreign languages and back. It shouldn't be relied upon for truth. Although a Jesus-like person probably did exist, he likely did not perform any of the extraordinary things the bible says that he did.

there are several different points of view here:

1 - he was what he said he was: the son of God
2 - he was a good moral teacher, but not the son of God
3 - he was completely lying and deceiving about everything.

if #3 is true, then why would he promote love and peace, and sacrificing things you want to help the needy and the depraved?

if #2 was true, then he lied by saying he was the son of God. which sortof counts against that good moral teacher thing doesn't it?

#1: he is the son of God and has set an example for how we should lead our lives.

What many people, including christians, do not seem to know is that until about 300AD Jesus was not regarded as the son of God but simply as another prophet, then Constantine got a big assembly of Bishops together and they decided that Jesus was the long awaited messiah. As Constantine was the Roman Emperor and had absolute power, what he said was what went, so Jesus was voted into Son of God status by a committee.

Jesus was and still is what the bible said he was and more, he died for all our sins.
What makes Jesus a great healer is that he would die to save another person, he would give up his lifes energy to save another persons energy, could you do that because I would gladly
