The only difference is ...
The dead Saint can not pray and thus God can not listen to him, While a living Pastor or a friend can pray and may be God will answer his prayers.

Well said. I find that those who criticize us Catholics for asking a saint to pray for them have no problem admitting they ask dead friends or dead family members to pray for them. Assuming they are in heaven.
When I explain that the church has a long, dedicated and scientific process used before proclaiming a saint these same people will get just as upset. They state emphatically that neither the church nor science has the right to meddle in who may or may not be a saint.
But the average un-theologically-educated individual does?
It's like ring around the rosie. Constant turning and no one gets anywhere.

they have no Scriptures to confirm this. finding out the checklist of doctrines and different matters of the Roman church, you come across that throughout approximately A.D. 431 the Council of Ephesus mentioned Mary became now to be referred to as 'mom of God'. The prepare of praying to Mary and the saints got here into the church approximately A.D. six hundred. The 'immaculate concept of Mary' became presented via Pope Pius IX in 1854. the belief of the Virgin Mary became proclaimed via Pope Pius XII in 1950. that's interesting how the Roman church has further this and that over the centuries. some pupils have got here across that seventy 5% of the rites and ceremonies interior the Roman church are of pagan foundation,

Ummmmm... the people on earth can actually hear you. The saints are dead. There is no indication in scripture that "saints" are to be prayed to.
Also... I don't think it's God's church that has "saints" as you describe them. Catholics would disagree with me on that I guess.

Because you are praying to the saint rather than to God....
You do not need an intercessory....saint, priest or pastor...God will hear all who call upon his name....
However, if you call upon the name of some dead saint...I doubt God will hear...to me, that is idolatry...praying to a saint instead of God.

Well.. I would just ask, where in the Bible does Jesus tell you to ask a dead saint to petition for you? Is there any example of this in scripture? And if not, then I would be very cautious about practicing it.

Hi,
We believe that the dead can't help the live ones. They are in need for our good deeds for them. There shouldn't be a middle man between Him and us. that's the beauty of this holy relationship. you talk and communicate with Him any time you like. you don't have to set an appointment with Him. He is there listens to us and sees our actions. the minute you want to repent or confess or want something from Him just raise your head to heaven. remember to obey Him in time of prosperity so you'll find Him in time of need.

It just makes to much sense doesn't it?
I'll bet you get 7 responses stating that we put Saints or Mary over God though.
Peace!
P.S. Don't Christians believe in heaven? Or that our Soul lives on? Why all of the "They are Dead" statements? Sure their bodies have expired, but their Souls are in heaven.
Do these Christians not believe in life in heaven? I can understand Atheist thinking these things, but Christians?
PSS. I estimated 7, guess I underestimated the depth of reasoning here. Sad.
bakhan, you are saying that the Saints are not in Heaven? and that if the Saints are in heaven, they can't talk to Jesus on your behalf? Why would we go to heaven and not be able to see our savior?

Jesus never said to pray to the saints, just as He never said to pray to your pastor or friends. He said pray to God in Jesus' name, and He would answer. Very simple.

They're both good! You should ask both saints and Christian friends to pray for you.
Christian saints had a special grace upon them during their earthly life that permitted them to live exemplary lives. They continue their prayers and intercession in heaven.
