I've heard the next 15th or 1st, whichever comes next and I've heard it could take 30 days or more. Trying to budget everything.

He will immediately start getting paid on the 1st and the 15th. The check will reflect the amount of days he's been on active duty, so if he got there on the 13th, don't expect a big check. He'll also probably get about a $200 pay advance to buy things he needs there at the PX, so expect for that amount to be deducted from the check as well.

He should also have a MyPay account (this might not be set up yet since he's still in Basic), which will allow you to view his LES (pay check). This will also tell you when the check will be deposited.

Good luck. I hope this helps.

Is he Active or Guard? the reason I ask is you would expect Guard to get paid when Active does, but my 1st pay wasnt until the 7th of July ,( I left for basic on the 12th of june06) the Guard has 4 times a months they can get paid..
As it shouldnt matter Guard or not .. Lets hope he gets paid 1st or 15th unless he opt for once a month pay.

He should get paid on the f1st or the 15th, whichever is first, but the military is a big, slow, government agency, and sometimes it takes a while for them to get things right. I think that when my wife was first commissioned, She reported onto active duty on May 30th, we got her first pay check on July 1. It took them about a month to figure out I guess. When I first went in, I was a little too busy to notice.

Wait until you have to get TAD/TDY pay out of those SOBs.

expect 6-8 weeks before his first pay hits the account.

I didn't get first paycheck from my husband for about six weeks. We weren't sure when to expect it, so six weeks was kind of a long time. I don't know if that is the norm, that is just how it worked out for us

I'd plan for about a month after he goes to basic. His first couple of paychecks will go directly to purchasing uniforms and anything else he may need while there.

Plan for a month. Could come sooner.
When I was in, they paid us every month at the end and paid us in person.
After basic, I opted to get my pay once a month while most others got theirs twice.

Yeah, pay is semi-monthly, and not given while in basic. Like the other person said, plan for at least a month.
