He was raised in the family of a carpenter, and most likely followed his father into the family business. That was the standard at that time. However, once he reached the age of thirty, he switched to a new job. He became a rabbi (or teacher of the Word of God). Like any Rabbi, minister, priest, etc, today, he received his income from the gifts and offerings of those who followed his teachings. If you read Luke 5, you will find a mention of several of the people who gave to his ministry there.

The Christians I've talked to say he started out as a carpenter, then became a Rabbi.

Yes, he cleans the streets of NY. I have spoken to him a few times, seems like a pretty decent guy. HE told me he was jesus. why shouldn't I believe him?
